Marvel Animation is planning to release new seasons of two of its hit shows every year, according to Brad Winderbaum, head of Marvel TV.

The shows confirmed for annual seasons are X-Men ’97 and Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man. Another series, Marvel Zombies, may continue if enough fans tune in.

X-Men ’97 is a revival of the classic X-Men animated series from the 1990s. Created by Beau DeMayo for Disney+, it continues the story of the original superhero team. The show has featured many returning voice actors from the first series, including Alison Sealy-Smith, Cal Dodd, Lenore Zann, George Buza, and Adrian Hough.

DeMayo served as head writer for the first two seasons before Matthew Chauncey took over for the third. The series premiered on March 20, 2024, and released its first season’s ten episodes weekly until May 15. It earned critical praise and several awards. The second season is expected in 2026, with a third already in development.

Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man is another Disney+ animated series, created by Jeff Trammell. It tells an alternate version of Peter Parker’s early days as Spider-Man, where Norman Osborn becomes his mentor instead of Tony Stark.

Hudson Thames voices Spider-Man, reprising his role from Marvel Studios’ What If…?. The show also stars Kari Wahlgren, Grace Song, Eugene Byrd, Zeno Robinson, Colman Domingo, Hugh Dancy, and Charlie Cox. The series uses 3D cel-shaded animation that reflects the style of classic Spider-Man comics.

It premiered on January 29, with the rest of its ten episodes releasing through February 19. The second season is scheduled for 2026, with a third season in the works.

Winderbaum’s announcement shows Marvel’s commitment to keeping fans engaged with regular content from its animated universe. Producing yearly seasons will give audiences a steady flow of stories featuring some of Marvel’s most iconic characters.
