Iyoku played a central role in Dragon Ball DAIMA, meaning his statement likely signals that new updates from the franchise are coming soon.
Dragon Ball DAIMA, stylized as Dragon Ball DAIMA, aired from October 2024 to February 2025 on Fuji TV. The anime is set between Dragon Ball Z and Dragon Ball Super, following a story where the villain Gomah kidnaps Earth’s guardian, Dende, and uses the Dragon Balls to weaken Goku and his allies. This leaves the planet vulnerable and forces the heroes into a dangerous struggle against the Demon Realm.
The show received strong critical praise despite a mixed response before its premiere. On Rotten Tomatoes, the anime holds a 100% approval rating from five reviews, with an average score of 7/10. Early skepticism gave way to praise by episode eight, with critics noting its quality animation and engaging story.
Joshua Fox of Screen Rant wrote that the series “was what the anime fans had waited decades for”, highlighting both the fight choreography and the comedy as standout elements.
Spanish reviewer Mariló Delgado from Espinof described the show as a nostalgic treat but advised viewers to be patient as the story took time to develop. CBR also noted that while some fans were initially disappointed that the series didn’t continue Dragon Ball Super’s manga arcs, the show delivered the kind of experience the franchise needed.
Later episodes, especially episodes seventeen through nineteen, earned near-universal acclaim. Daniel Kurland from CBR called episode seventeen “perfect”, praising the Goku vs. Majin Duu battle and describing the visuals as “mind-blowing.”
He later gave episode nineteen a 10/10, calling it “the groundwork for greatness” and “the best one-two punches in Dragon Ball history.” Following this episode, Dragon Ball DAIMA broke records for the highest-rated anime episode of 2025.
While fans enjoyed both the Japanese and English versions, some criticized the English dub’s delayed release schedule. Despite this, the series solidified its place as one of the most talked-about Dragon Ball projects in recent years.
With Iyoku’s recent comments, it seems likely that Dragon Ball DAIMA will continue. Fans can expect more news on the series in the near future.
