Prime Video’s upcoming series Joseph of Egypt has expanded its cast, bringing in six new actors to play key roles in the biblical drama.

Alexa Mansour, Shila Ommi, Christopher Maleki, Alonso Rappa, Johnny Visotcky , and Jay Abdo have all joined the project in recurring roles.

The series follows the Old Testament story of Joseph, played by Adam Hamshi, who is betrayed by his brothers and sold into slavery.

Despite this, he rises to become a powerful leader in Egypt, second only to Pharaoh. But when he reunites with his family, Joseph faces a test that challenges everything he has gained.

Mansour will take on the role of Asenath, Joseph’s wife. Ommi will appear as Senebsen, while Maleki is set to play Potiphar. Rappa has been cast as Benjamin, Joseph’s younger brother. Visotcky will portray Zebulun, and Abdo will step into the role of Bastis.

The main ensemble also includes Alexander Siddig as Jacob, Babak Tafti as Simeon, Daniel Peera as Reuben, and Iris Bahr as Leah. Several other actors, including Dakota Shapiro, Amir Malaklou, and Navid Negahban, will play members of Joseph’s family and the Egyptian court.

The show is written and led by Craig Wright, who also serves as executive producer and showrunner. It is being produced by Amazon MGM Studios in partnership with Dallas Jenkins, best known as the creator of The Chosen. Jenkins is also an executive producer under his 5&2 Studios banner.

The six new cast members bring strong resumes with them. Mansour is widely recognized for her lead role on The Walking Dead: World Beyond. Ommi has a major role in Apple TV+’s Tehran.

Maleki has appeared in Homeland, Scandal, and The Chosen. Rappa was recently seen in Dark Winds, Visotcky has built a career in both TV and theater, and Abdo has shared the screen with Nicole Kidman in Queen of the Desert and Tom Hanks in A Hologram for the King.

With its mix of biblical storytelling and a large international cast, Joseph of Egypt looks set to be one of Prime Video’s biggest period dramas.
