November is stacked with portal-jumping quests, musical magic, animated odysseys, and one last trip to Hawkins. From a long awaited stage-to-screen finale to new chapters in beloved animated worlds, the month brings theatrical premieres and streaming debuts across Apple TV+, Netflix, and Prime Video. Expect stories that roam the afterlife, crisscross Exandria, return to Oz, and dive into dreamscapes, with casts led by Cynthia Erivo and Ariana Grande, Elizabeth Olsen and Miles Teller, Rhea Seehorn, and the full Critical Role ensemble.

Vince Gilligan’s new series follows a woman described as the most miserable person on Earth who is tasked with saving the world from happiness, with Rhea Seehorn leading the cast. The show premieres with two episodes on November 7 on Apple TV+, with a first season of nine episodes already ordered. Cast and crew include Karolina Wydra and Carlos-Manuel Vesga with Gilligan and longtime collaborators among the executive producers. The genre blend leans into science fiction and drama with a high concept premise that sets up a season long mystery.

This animated adventure follows siblings Stevie and Elliot as they journey through the world of dreams to find the Sandman and make a wish to fix their family. The film features voices from Jolie Hoang-Rappaport and Elias Janssen with Craig Robinson, Simu Liu, and Cristin Milioti joining the ensemble. It begins a limited theatrical run on November 7 and then streams on Netflix on November 14. The movie comes from Netflix Animation and Kuku Studios with music by John Debney and playful set pieces like zombie breakfast foods and a queen of nightmares.

Prime Video’s animated series adapts Critical Role’s second campaign set in Exandria during rising tensions between the Dwendalian Empire and the Kryn Dynasty. The core Critical Role cast reprise their characters including Jester, Caleb, Beau, Fjord, Nott, Yasha, and Mollymauk with guest voices announced across the fall. The season premieres on November 19 on Prime Video and rolls out weekly after a multi-episode launch. The premise centers on a group of outcasts drawn together when a powerful relic threatens reality.

The second chapter of the stage musical adaptation continues Elphaba and Glinda’s intertwined paths and moves into events that lead toward the arrival of Dorothy in Oz. The film is directed by Jon M Chu and features Cynthia Erivo as Elphaba with Ariana Grande as Glinda alongside Jonathan Bailey, Michelle Yeoh, and Jeff Goldblum. It opens in theaters on November 21 with premium formats available. The story draws from the latter act of the Broadway musical inspired by Gregory Maguire’s novel and picks up after Elphaba goes on the run from the Wizard’s regime.

This romantic fantasy follows Joan in an afterlife where every soul has one week to choose where to spend forever, forcing a choice between the man she built a life with and her first love who died young. Elizabeth Olsen stars as Joan with Miles Teller and Callum Turner leading the cast for director David Freyne. After festival play, the film expands nationwide in theaters on November 26 through A24. The setup features distinct realms and a rules driven afterlife while the narrative explores memory and commitment through a high concept love triangle.

The fifth and final season arrives in three parts with Volume 1 launching on November 26 on Netflix followed by subsequent drops during the holidays. The season is set in the fall of 1987 and reunites the core ensemble including Winona Ryder, David Harbour, Millie Bobby Brown, Finn Wolfhard, Caleb McLaughlin, Gaten Matarazzo, and others. Netflix has planned fan events and a limited theatrical component around the finale to celebrate the closing chapter. The story brings the conflict with the Upside Down to a conclusion while setting the stage for future spinoffs.

Apple TV+ closes out its animated trilogy based on Tony DiTerlizzi’s books as Eva returns for the final leg of her search across a transformed Earth. The series from Skydance Animation is showrun by Bobs Gannaway and features voices including Jeanine Mason, Teri Hatcher, and Gary Anthony Williams. The third and final season premieres on November 26 on Apple TV+. The adventure follows Eva’s journey with companions like Rovender and Muthr as she races to uncover the truth about humanity’s fate.
