New Details Revealed About Keanu Reeves’ Upcoming Action Thriller
Keanu Reeves is teaming up with Deadpool director Tim Miller for a new action movie called Shiver. According to reports from Warner Bros., the studio is close to securing the project, which has been described as a mix of Edge of Tomorrow and The Shallows.
The story comes from writer Ian Schorr and follows a smuggler who finds himself trapped in a nightmare while on a job in the Caribbean.
After being double-crossed, he ends up surrounded by bodies, armed mercenaries, and hungry sharks. Things only get worse when he realizes he’s caught in a time loop, forced to relive the chaos over and over until he can find a way to escape.
Reeves and Miller will work together for the first time on this project, which sounds like a blend of survival, action, and science fiction. The movie promises to deliver the kind of high-energy storytelling both filmmakers are known for, according to THR.
Outside of Shiver, Keanu Reeves has a busy schedule. He’s starring in Outcome, a dark comedy from Jonah Hill that will stream on Apple TV+. He’s also part of Ruben Östlund’s upcoming satire The Entertainment System Is Down. In addition, Reeves is producing a documentary about martial arts legend Benny Urquidez, expected to be released in 2025.
His comic book project BRZRKR is also moving forward at Netflix, with Reeves both starring in and producing the live-action adaptation. He’s reportedly open to directing the film as well. After the movie, Netflix is planning a two-season anime series based on the same story, created by Production I.G.
As for the John Wick universe, there are still talks about a fifth movie, though director Chad Stahelski has said he wants to give the franchise a break before continuing. Meanwhile, a spinoff TV series titled John Wick: Under the High Table is in development, with Reeves involved as an executive producer.
The Shiver deal is still being finalized, but with Reeves and Miller on board, it’s shaping up to be one of the most exciting action projects in development right now.
