‘Jurassic World 5’ Is Reportedly in Development — Here’s Everything We Know So Far
After the massive box office success of Jurassic World: Rebirth, it looks like Universal Pictures isn’t done with the dinosaurs just yet.
A fifth Jurassic World movie is now reportedly in development, according to entertainment insider Jeff Sneider’s The InSneider.
Rebirth, which hit U.S. theaters in July, marked the fourth Jurassic World film and the seventh entry in the long-running Jurassic Park franchise that first began with Steven Spielberg’s 1993 classic. The latest installment earned around $868.5 million worldwide, proving there’s still plenty of life left in the series.
Sneider reports that director Gareth Edwards, who helmed Rebirth, is in final talks to return for Jurassic World 5. Edwards is known for his work on Monsters (2010), Godzilla (2014), Rogue One: A Star Wars Story (2016), and The Creator (2023).
According to The InSneider, stars Scarlett Johansson, Jonathan Bailey, and Mahershala Ali are expected to reprise their roles as Zora Bennett, Duncan Kincaid, and Dr. Henry Loomis.
So far, there’s no word yet on who will write the next movie or what the story will be about. Plot details are being kept under wraps for now. However, the film seems to be moving quickly through development. Insider EmpireCity Box Office claims that Universal is hoping to fast-track the project for release sometime in 2027 or 2028.
With Rebirth bringing in huge box office numbers and a strong fan response, it’s no surprise Universal and Amblin Partners are eager to keep the franchise alive.
