Jeremy Renner Responds to Yi Zhou’s Harassment Claims
Actor Jeremy Renner has denied harassment claims made by filmmaker Yi Zhou, who alleges that he sent her explicit photos and behaved violently during a private meeting.
A representative for Renner told Variety, “The allegations being made are totally inaccurate and untrue.”
Zhou, 37, made the allegations public on Instagram earlier this week using hashtags such as #Cancel and #CancelJeremyRenner.
She claimed that Renner first contacted her in June, sending “a string of unwanted/unsolicited po****** images of himself via DM and WhatsApp” and later seduced her, saying he loved her in a way that made her believe in him. Zhou also said she faced harassment through online smear campaigns. In one post, she wrote that the experience “really shows the dark side of Hollywood and the smear campaign to deter women and Asian female filmmakers and women in general.”

Speaking to the Daily Mail, Zhou said that on the evening of August 20, she met with Renner to discuss a documentary project. She alleged that he consumed a bottle of wine and behaved violently, which led her to lock herself in a room out of fear.

Before these allegations, Renner and Zhou had been collaborating on several projects. Zhou is directing the documentary Chronicles of Disney, which explores the studio’s history and features Renner as an interview subject.
The film also includes costume designer Mark Bridges and makeup artist Bill Corso. Renner is also involved in Zhou’s animated feature Stardust Future: Stars and Scars, which is reportedly the first animated film entirely created using AI. According to Variety, the film was aiming for a November awards-qualifying release, with some proceeds supporting Renner’s Rennervation Foundation.
