George R.R. Martin has shared new details about the future of the Game of Thrones universe, and the news is coming straight from his talk with Los Siete Reinos at a recent event.

According to Martin, HBO is working on several new shows set in the world he created.

Martin explained that the network has more on the way than the projects already announced.

He said, “Apart from The Knight of the Seven Kingdoms and The House of the Dragon, there are other Game of Throne spinoff projects in development. Most of them are prequels. There are several in development, five or six series; and I don’t develop them alone, but I’m working with other people. Yes, there is some sequel.” [Translated from Spanish].

His comments make it clear that HBO is not slowing down when it comes to expanding the franchise.

Two major shows are already moving forward. House of the Dragon is deep into production on its third season, which is planned to arrive in 2026, and HBO has already approved a fourth season.

Meanwhile, A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms is also on the way. This series is based on Martin’s Dunk and Egg stories and follows Ser Duncan the Tall and young Egg. The show stars Peter Claffey and Dexter Sol Ansell and will release its first season of six episodes in 2026 on HBO and Max. The network has already renewed it for a second season before the first one has aired.

All of this shows that HBO is committed to keeping Westeros alive with new stories and new characters. With several projects moving ahead at once, fans can expect the world of Game of Thrones to keep growing for years.
