Donald Trump Drives ‘Rush Hour 4’ to Greenlight at Paramount – Here’s What We Know So Far
Rush Hour fans, get ready. Paramount is bringing back the buddy-cop action comedy series with a fourth movie. After years of waiting, Rush Hour 4 is finally happening. According to Semafor, President Donald Trump personally asked the studio to revive the franchise.
Brett Ratner, who directed the first three movies, is returning to direct the new installment. Ratner’s career took a hit after #MeToo allegations in 2017, but he has grown close to the Trump family while working on the documentary Melania, which Amazon paid $40 million to release.
The Rush Hour films star Jackie Chan as Chief Inspector Lee from the Hong Kong Police Force and Chris Tucker as LAPD Detective James Carter.
The movies follow the two detectives as they tackle crime in Hong Kong and Los Angeles. Fans know them for their mix of martial arts, funny situations, and the clash of Eastern and Western cultures.
The original trilogy hit theaters between 1998 and 2007. The movies made a lot of money, though critics had mixed opinions about them. Now, with Trump’s push and Ratner back behind the camera, the fourth film is officially in the works.
