Netflix Drops New Trailer for Rom-Com “People We Meet on Vacation”
Netflix is gearing up for the release of the romantic comedy “People We Meet on Vacation,” adapted from Emily Henry’s 2021 novel.
The film is directed by Brett Haley, with a screenplay by Yulin Kuang, and features Emily Bader and Tom Blyth in the lead roles. The story follows Poppy Wright, played by Bader, and Alex Nilsen, portrayed by Blyth, navigating their romantic journey.

The supporting cast includes Lukas Gage, Jameela Jamil, Alan Ruck, Molly Shannon, Sarah Catherine Hook, Lucien Laviscount, Miles Heizer, Alice Lee, and Tommy Do. Jamil plays Swapna Bakshi-Highsmith, adding an additional layer of charm and humor to the ensemble.
Production for the film is handled by Temple Hill, with Marty Bowen, Wyck Godfrey, and Isaac Klausner producing. The project is part of a first-look deal between Sony Pictures and Netflix.
People We Meet on Vacation follows the story of two best friends, Poppy Wright and Alex Nilsen, who are complete opposites, Poppy is outgoing and adventurous, while Alex is quiet and reserved. Every summer, they take a week-long vacation together, but after a trip to Croatia, they stop speaking for two years.
Poppy, now a travel writer, realizes she hasn’t been truly happy since traveling with Alex. She reaches out to him to reconnect and invites him on a trip to Palm Springs for his younger brother’s wedding.
As they travel together, Poppy reflects on their friendship, which began in college in Chicago and grew through budget-friendly trips. The story explores their shared history, unspoken feelings, and the bond that has kept them connected despite time and distance.
Netflix has scheduled the film for release on January 9, 2026. The rom-com is expected to blend heartfelt moments with lighthearted humor, staying true to the tone of Emily Henry’s popular novel.
