Vin Diesel, famous for his role in the Fast & Furious movies, is taking on a new project. He will star in and write a live-action movie based on Mattel Studios’ classic toy, Rock ‘Em Sock ‘Em Robots.

Diesel is also producing the film through his company, One Race Films. His involvement as both star and producer was first reported back in April 2021. The movie will bring to life the tabletop boxing game and its well-known characters, Red Rocker and Blue Bomber.

Robbie Brenner, President of Mattel Studios and Chief Content Officer, who is also producing the film, praised Diesel’s role in the project.

She said, “Vin is a powerhouse storyteller with an unmatched understanding of action, heart, and world-building. His creative vision for Rock ‘Em Sock ‘Em Robots is bold, human, and deeply cinematic—exactly the kind of storytelling we love at Mattel Studios.”

Vin Diesel added, “I am excited to expand the Mattel universe by bringing this classic toy from my childhood to a modern audience by telling a story that examines the role of competition in a world often measured by strength and dominance that dares to reveal the power of compassion at its core.”

Samantha Vincent from One Race Films is also producing. Mattel Studios will oversee the project through Darian Greenbaum and Andrew Scannell, while Diesel will represent One Race Films on the production side.

Overall, this new live-action Rock ‘Em Sock ‘Em Robots movie could bring a childhood favorite into the modern cinema world. Vin Diesel’s involvement as both writer and star suggests it will have plenty of action and heart.
