Tom Hiddleston returns as Jonathan Pine in a fresh chapter of the spy thriller The Night Manager, and the new season takes him straight into another dangerous mission. According to the trailer and details shared by the producers, Pine is trying to keep a low profile in London under the name Alex Goodwin, working quietly as a low-level MI6 officer.

His calm life doesn’t last long. When he spots a former Richard Roeper mercenary on the street, he follows the lead and ends up crossing paths with Teddy Dos Santos, a Colombian businessman and arms dealer played by Diego Calva.

Angela Burr, played again by Olivia Colman, pushes Pine back into the field. She wants him to help uncover a major weapons operation. Pine teams up with Roxana Bolaños, portrayed by Camila Morrone.

She isn’t thrilled about helping him, but she guides him into Dos Santos’ world. Once inside, Pine realizes he has stepped into a much bigger and far more dangerous plan, one involving the creation of a guerrilla army. At one point in the trailer, Pine confronts Burr and says, “You lied to me.” Burr responds sharply, “I had no choice. I saw a chance to nail investors, the politicians, the whole rotten bunch.”

As Pine digs deeper, loyalties break apart and new threats appear from every direction. The producers explain that Pine must race to expose a conspiracy that could destabilize an entire country. With betrayal becoming almost routine, he has to decide who he can trust and how far he is willing to go before everything collapses.

The first three episodes of the second season will arrive on January 11. After that, one new episode will come out every Sunday until the finale on February 1. The show will stream on Prime Video around the world and will air on BBC and BBC iPlayer in the U.K. Hiddleston also serves as an executive producer.

Season two adds new cast members including Indira Varma, Paul Chahidi and Hayley Squires. Alistair Petrie, Douglas Hodge, Michael Nardone and Noah Jupe return from the first season. The series is based on characters created by John le Carré, with the new season created and executive produced by David Farr and directed by Georgi Banks-Davies.
