New reports suggest The Batman: Part II is taking major inspiration from one of DC’s most loved comic stories. The claim comes from film insider Jeff Sneider, who says the sequel is strongly influenced by Batman: The Long Halloween.

According to Sneider, Matt Reeves is looking closely at the tone and ideas from the famous comic as he shapes the next chapter of his Batman world. While the movie will not be a direct adaptation, the influence is said to be clear in the story direction and themes.

Batman: The Long Halloween is a well-known comic series by writer Jeph Loeb and artist Tim Sale. It first came out in the late 1990s and focuses on Batman’s early years. The story follows a long investigation into a killer who strikes only on holidays.

Along the way, Batman works closely with Harvey Dent and Jim Gordon. The comic also shows Gotham changing, with old mob crime giving way to masked villains. It is best known for telling the origin of Two-Face and for its dark, crime-driven style.

The comic has been praised for its serious tone, strong characters, and mystery-driven plot. Over the years, it has influenced many Batman projects. Elements of it can be seen in Christopher Nolan’s Dark Knight films and even in Reeves’ first Batman movie from 2022. An animated version of the story was also released in two parts in 2021.

The Batman: Part II is set to arrive in theaters on October 1, 2027. Matt Reeves is back as director and co-writer, working again with Mattson Tomlin. Robert Pattinson will return as Bruce Wayne, along with Jeffrey Wright as Jim Gordon, Andy Serkis as Alfred, and Colin Farrell as the Penguin. Reports have also said Scarlett Johansson is in talks to join the cast.

The sequel will take place after the events of the first film, focusing on Gotham as it deals with chaos, crime, and corruption following the city’s flooding. Production is expected to begin in May 2026, with filming planned in England and Scotland. Jeff Sneider is the source behind the report linking the film to The Long Halloween.
