‘The View’ Erupts as Whoopi Goldberg and Co-Hosts Blast Trump After He Says Reiner’s Death Can Be Attributed to “Trump Derangement Syndrome”

Whoopi Goldberg and the other hosts of “The View” strongly criticized Donald Trump after his public reaction to the death of filmmaker and actor Rob Reiner.

Reiner, 78, and his wife Michele were found dead in what authorities believe was a homicide. The reaction from Trump quickly sparked anger on the daytime talk show.

During the broadcast, co-host Sunny Hostin began to reference Trump’s online post about Reiner. Goldberg stopped her mid-sentence and urged her not to read it out loud, saying “Don’t read it, just tell them that it’s there.” Hostin agreed and added, “I don’t think that’s something we should be hearing about.”

The comments in question came from Trump’s Truth Social account. In the post, Trump suggested that Reiner’s death was connected to his vocal opposition to Trump and blamed what he called “Trump Derangement Syndrome.” The post quickly spread online and drew heavy backlash.

Ana Navarro did not hold back in her response. Speaking on the show, she said Trump’s words crossed a serious line during a moment of grief. “There’s an American family grieving,” Navarro said. “For the President of the United States to make this about himself and attack Rob Reiner for speaking his mind is shameful. It is disgraceful.” She added that the post ranked among Trump’s most disturbing actions.

Goldberg also shared personal thoughts about Reiner, whom she worked with on the 1996 film “Ghosts of Mississippi.” She described him as “an outspoken activist and quite a guy, quite an amazing man.”

Meanwhile, the criminal case surrounding Reiner’s death continues to unfold. His son, Nick Reiner, 32, has been arrested and is being held in connection with the deaths of his parents. According to law enforcement, his bail has been set at $4 million. The investigation is ongoing.
