Marlon Wayans recently opened up about his brief social media spat with 50 Cent and shared the advice his older brothers gave him about handling the situation. The 53-year-old actor and comedian weighed in on the rapper-turned-producer’s involvement in the new Sean “Diddy” Combs docuseries on Netflix, which sparked a public back-and-forth between the two.

Wayans told Complex, “50 and Puff have a long-term beef. It’s personal. It’s between him and Puff. And before it’s between him and Puff, it’s between both of them and God.” He added a cautionary note, “Just the way Puff is down on his luck and 50 is kicking a man when he’s down… there’s a karma to every action that you do.”

The comments led to a response from 50 Cent on Instagram, escalating the online exchange. Despite the clash, Wayans told KTLA that the argument was “bad for the culture.” He explained, “I didn’t see [the documentary], and then they asked me about it, and I just gave my opinion. I just think brothers don’t need to be quarreling in public like that.”

Wayans also emphasized that their beef wasn’t serious. “That was the bully on the block and the funny kid just doing the dozens, roasting each other,” he said. “For me, it was all in fun and all in jest. I think the world needs more of that. We forgot how to make fun of each other, how to laugh at our differences.”

When it came to advice from family, Wayans revealed his older brothers encouraged him to avoid conflicts with someone like 50 Cent. “Damon was like, ‘Why did you pick the biggest brother? He’s on gamma rays,’” Wayans said. “Stick to beefing with Soulja Boy, Kevin Hart, people that we can beat. Leave guys who got shot nine times alone. He survived nine!”

50 Cent survived a near-fatal shooting in 2000 and has had multiple public feuds over the years, including with Diddy, Rick Ross, and Ja Rule.

Wayans’ comments highlight the importance of keeping disagreements in perspective and avoiding public spats that escalate online. It also shows that even celebrities rely on family advice when navigating conflicts.
