Fashion and film have always shared a symbiotic relationship at major festivals, but few partnerships have proven as enduring as this particular beauty brand’s longtime sponsorship of one of cinema’s most prestigious gatherings. Every September, the event doubles as a runway of its own, with red carpet arrivals generating nearly as much buzz as the films themselves.

This year’s edition of that tradition unfolded on Thursday evening, when Armani Beauty marked its ninth consecutive year as the official beauty sponsor of the Venice Film Festival with an exclusive dinner at the Royal Gardens, just steps from St. Mark’s Square. The guest list brought together a mix of actors, models and musicians, all gathered to celebrate the brand’s long-running presence at the festival.

Sydney Sweeney attended the September 3 dinner as an Armani Beauty ambassador, wearing a sparkling gray Giorgio Armani Fall/Winter 2000 ready-to-wear dress sourced from the brand’s archives. The gown, sourced from Raffe Vintage, featured a plunging neckline, a backless silhouette covered in silver sequins, and a small rosette appliqué detail at the shoulder.

Sweeney kept her overall look minimalistic, wearing her naturally blonde hair down with a middle part and loose waves, paired with soft nude makeup and only two rings as accessories. Fans reacted enthusiastically to the look across social media, with many praising how the sparkling archival gown suited her styling for the evening.

Sweeney wasn’t the only notable face at the dinner. This year’s roster of Armani Beauty ambassadors and friends of the house also included Jonathan Bailey, Kendall Jenner, Vittoria Ceretti, Nicholas Galitzine, Madisin Rian, Carlos Sainz and J Balvin, according to Richard Pinabel, global brand president of Armani Beauty. Sweeney was also seen mingling with Nicholas Hoult, Tessa Thompson and Maude Apatow throughout the evening.

Kendall Jenner turned heads of her own at the event, wearing an archival Armani gown dating back to 1995, adding another layer of vintage glamour to the night’s overall aesthetic. The pairing of current ambassadors alongside decades-old archival pieces reflected a broader theme running through much of the evening’s fashion choices.

Armani’s presence at Venice extends well beyond a single dinner event. The brand’s sponsorship, now in its ninth year, has become a defining fixture of the festival’s cultural footprint, blending high fashion with cinema in ways that have made the partnership one of the most closely watched style moments of the annual event.

That partnership carries particular significance this year given the festival’s overall scale, running from September 2 through September 12 with a packed schedule of premieres and star-studded events. Sweeney’s presence throughout the festival, tied specifically to her ambassador role rather than a film premiere of her own, has kept her consistently in the spotlight across multiple appearances during her time in Italy.

Between the archival Chanel piece she wore earlier in her trip and this latest vintage Armani gown, Sweeney’s Venice wardrobe has consistently leaned into decades-old designer pieces reimagined for modern red carpet moments. That approach has become something of a signature for her overall style presence at major festival events this year.

With the festival still running through mid-September, additional appearances and events remain on the calendar, giving fans plenty more opportunities to see how Sweeney and her fellow ambassadors continue representing the brand throughout its ongoing Venice partnership.
