James Bond Fans Left Waiting as IO Interactive Delays ‘007 First Light’ Release
IO Interactive has pushed back the release of its upcoming James Bond game, 007 First Light. The studio confirmed that the game will now launch on May 27, 2026, instead of its original March release window. The update was shared directly by IO Interactive, the developer behind the project.
According to the studio, the delay is meant to give the team more time to improve the game before launch. IO Interactive said the game can already be played from start to finish, but still needs extra work to make sure it meets their quality standards. The developer explained that the goal is to deliver the strongest possible version at launch. More updates are expected early next year.

007 First Light marks the return of James Bond to video games after more than ten years. IO Interactive is best known for the Hitman series, which has raised expectations for this project. Many fans see this as a chance for Bond to finally get a modern game that lives up to the character’s legacy.
The game tells a brand-new story and focuses on a younger version of Bond who is still learning the ropes. Narrative director Martin Emborg previously said the character is inexperienced, which lines up with the direction being taken with the future of the Bond franchise overall. The gameplay shown so far points to fast action, stealth, and classic spy elements.
The cast is also drawing attention. Patrick Gibson plays James Bond, while musician Lenny Kravitz takes on the role of the main villain. Other actors involved include Lennie James, Kiera Lester, Alastair Mackenzie, and Priyanga Burford.
