Mickey Rourke Turns to GoFundMe to Avoid Losing His Home, Friend Confirms
Mickey Rourke has turned to a GoFundMe page to help avoid losing his Los Angeles home, according to a report by The Hollywood Reporter. The 73-year-old actor approved a fundraising campaign to cover what is said to be a $59,100 rental bill.
The page was set up by Liya Joelle-Jones, a friend and member of Rourke’s management team. “Mickey is going through a very difficult time right now, and it’s been incredibly touching to see how many people care about him and want to help,” she said.
Rourke received a three-day eviction notice on December 18, 2025. He had signed a lease for the property in March 2025 at $5,200 per month, which was later reportedly increased to $7,000. Fox News reported that Rourke’s landlord, Eric Goldie, filed a lawsuit in the Los Angeles Superior Court on December 29, claiming unpaid rent and seeking damages and attorney fees.
As of early January 2026, the GoFundMe page had raised $53,961 from over 1.400 contributors. The campaign description emphasized that the effort was fully approved by Rourke and aimed to cover urgent housing expenses to prevent eviction.
The description also recounted Rourke’s career, noting his rise to fame in the late 1970s and 1980s. “Mickey Rourke entered American cinema like a force of nature — raw, fearless and utterly original. In the late 1970s and 1980s, he wasn’t just a movie star; he was a symbol of something rare: danger paired with vulnerability, toughness paired with heart,” it read.
It continued, detailing the challenges he faced after stepping away from Hollywood and pursuing boxing. “Boxing — real and punishing — left lasting physical and emotional scars, and the industry that once celebrated him moved on quickly. What followed were years of struggle not defined by spectacle, but by survival: health challenges, financial strain and the quiet toll of being left behind. Today, Mickey is facing a very real and urgent situation: the threat of eviction from his home.”
The GoFundMe campaign emphasized that donations would help Rourke regain stability and peace of mind. “The goal is simple: to give Mickey stability and peace of mind during an extremely stressful time — so he can stay in his home and have the space to get back on his feet. Any donation, no matter the size, will make a real difference. And if you’re not able to contribute, sharing this page is a huge help and deeply appreciated,” the description added.
Rourke made headlines last year during his controversial appearance on Celebrity Big Brother UK, where he had a tense confrontation with housemate Chris Hughes. Following the incident, the reality show condemned his comments as “offensive and threatening” and removed him from the series.
