Netflix Confirms Multiple Hit TV Shows Won’t Be Back Until 2027
Netflix fans may have to wait a while for some of their favorite shows. According to Deadline, several popular series are not expected to return until 2027, even though 2026 has just begun.
Netflix revealed its 2026 schedule on Wednesday, showing dozens of new and returning shows. However, some big titles were missing from the lineup.
Shows like Wednesday, Ginny & Georgia, Ransom Canyon, Untamed, and Forever are not included in the current schedule. While it’s still possible that one or two could be added later this year, most of these series are expected to return no earlier than next year.
Wednesday, the supernatural mystery comedy starring Jenna Ortega, was renewed for a third season back in July, ahead of season two. However, an early renewal doesn’t mean the new season will arrive sooner. The show has a complex production, and filming takes time. Casting has already begun, including Eva Green joining the cast, and production is rumored to start in February, aiming for a 2027 release.
Ginny & Georgia is also on a two-year cycle. Netflix renewed the series for seasons three and four in 2023. The show’s third season started filming last fall, and production is expected to continue through February. Fans should not expect the fourth season until at least 2027.
Other shows face similar delays. Ransom Canyon, a romantic Western based on the Jodi Thomas book series and starring Josh Duhamel and Minka Kelly, was renewed for a second season in June 2025.
Production is wrapping soon, and the new season is expected to premiere in early 2027. Forever, an adaptation of Judy Blume’s coming-of-age novel starring Lovie Simone and Michael Cooper Jr., is still in production. No premiere date has been announced yet, but it is likely to arrive in 2027.
The Eric Bana-led crime series also premiered in 2025 and was renewed for a second season following its success. The new season will film later this year and is expected to arrive in early 2027. Supacell, the superhero crime drama that premiered in June 2024, was delayed after cast member Ghetts left the project. Season two was initially planned for early 2025 but was pushed back to October 2025, and it is still waiting for a confirmed release date.
Dept. Q, a thriller starring Matthew Goode, was renewed for a second season in August 2025. Production is underway, and the series may return in early 2027, though an earlier release is possible.
Other shows missing from Netflix’s 2026 slate include the Canadian series Bet, the British-Canadian teen series Geek Girl, and the final season of Heartbreak High. None of these shows have confirmed premiere dates, meaning fans will have to continue waiting.
