Hollywood stars used the Golden Globes red carpet on January 11, 2026, to speak out about the recent shootings of Renee Nicole Goode and Keith Porter by ICE agents. Among the most vocal was actor Mark Ruffalo, who directly called out President Donald Trump while addressing the tragic events.

Goode, a 37-year-old mother and writer, was fatally shot in her car by ICE officer Jonathan Ross in Minneapolis on January 7. The shooting happened during a large-scale federal immigration operation involving around 2,000 agents, just after Goode had dropped off her youngest child at school. Keith Porter, a man in Los Angeles, was also shot and killed by an off-duty ICE agent on New Year’s Eve.

On the red carpet, Ruffalo and other celebrities, including Wanda Sykes, wore pins reading “BE GOOD” and “ICE OUT” to show support for victims and call for accountability.

Ruffalo spoke to USA Today about the incident, saying, “This is for Renee Nicole Goode, who was murdered.” He then criticized Trump, adding, “We’re in the middle of a war with Venezuela that we illegally invaded. He’s telling the world that international law doesn’t matter to him. The only thing that matters to him is his own morality. He’s the worst human being. If we’re relying on this guy’s morality for the most powerful country in the world, then we’re all in a lot of trouble.”

“We’re in the middle of a war with Venezuela that we illegally invaded. He’s telling the world that international law doesn’t matter to him. The only thing that matters to him is his own morality, but the guy is a convicted felon; a convicted r****.

“He’s a pedophile,” Ruffalo continued. “He’s the worst human being. If we’re relying on this guy’s morality for the most powerful country in the world, then we’re all in a lot of trouble.

Ruffalo concluded with a message for the victims and those affected by ICE actions, saying, “So this is for her. This is for the people in the United States who are terrorized and scared today. I know I’m one of them. I love this country. And what I’m seeing here happening is not America.”

Sykes also used her platform to speak out, telling Variety before the show, “We need to speak up and shut this rogue government down. It’s awful what they are doing to people.”

The red-carpet protest was part of a larger movement called ICE Out For Good, organized by the American Civil Liberties Union. According to the ACLU website, “Today, peaceful protests and vigils kicked off the ICE Out For Good Weekend of Action to honor the lives lost at the hands of ICE, demand accountability, and make visible the human cost of this administration’s actions.”

Stars used the Golden Globes as a platform to bring national attention to the deadly ICE shootings and demand change. Ruffalo, Sykes, and others made it clear that they are holding the government accountable and supporting victims of ICE violence.
