Megyn Kelly Calls Out Amy Poehler Over Golden Globes Podcast Win: “Embarrassing and Disrespectful”
Megyn Kelly didn’t hold back in her criticism of Amy Poehler after the comedian won the inaugural Best Podcast award at the 2026 Golden Globes. Poehler’s Good Hang podcast took home the honor during Sunday night’s ceremony, but Kelly used her Monday show to call the win into question.
During an episode of The Megyn Kelly Show, the former Fox News host expressed disbelief that Poehler’s podcast took the prize. “Amy Poehler won. That’s no shock, they gave it to one of their own,” Kelly said.
She added sarcastically, “Yeah, tracks. And it’s because she really has a really, really insightful podcast, which you really feel enriched after watching. I mean, I’ve never watched it, but this is what I hear, and when I watch the clips, I thought, ‘My God, what am I missing?’”
Kelly then shared a clip from Good Hang featuring Gwyneth Paltrow. “They’re so relatable. They have busy lives. They get tired earlier, just like you, stars like Gwyneth Paltrow, just like you. Riveting, right?” she said. Kelly went on to question the quality of Poehler’s preparation for the interviews.
“Amy Poehler thought Gwyneth Paltrow was in Cold Mountain, which she wasn’t. They played it off, like it was hilarious. But the truth is, she didn’t show Gwyneth Paltrow the respect of actually understanding what her body of work is, recent body of work, for them to discuss. So that’s embarrassing and disrespectful, and that’s what wins you, yay, the award for best podcast.”
Good Hang beat out other popular podcasts, including Armchair Expert with Dax Shepard, Call Her Daddy with Alex Cooper, The Mel Robbins Podcast, SmartLess hosted by Jason Bateman, Will Arnett, and Sean Hayes, and NPR’s Up First.
Poehler addressed her win during her acceptance speech, acknowledging her fellow nominees while also poking fun at NPR. “I just want to say that I know I am new to this game. I have great respect for this form. I have great respect for all the people that I am nominated with. I’m big fans of all of you, except for NPR, just a bunch of celebs phoning it in. Try harder,” she said.
Kelly has previously criticized awards shows and revealed she opted out of being considered for the podcast category. She called the process bizarre and said she had “zero interest in their stupid awards.”
The 2026 Golden Globes were hosted by Nikki Glaser at the Beverly Hilton Hotel in Beverly Hills. For more details on winners and red carpet looks, the official list is available through the Golden Globes website.
Awards shows like this always spark debate, and it’s not surprising that a high-profile win like Poehler’s would get some pushback. Whether you agree with Kelly or think Poehler deserved it, it shows how subjective awards can be. What do you think? Share your thoughts in the comments.
