Fans Are Not Happy With Bridgerton Season 4 and Here Is Why
Bridgerton fans are proving once again that nothing escapes their watchful eyes, even in the middle of a high-stakes masquerade ball. Since the first four episodes of season four dropped on Netflix on January 29, the internet has been buzzing over a missing accessory that feels like a Regency-era mystery.
The drama centers on Sophie Baek, played by Yerin Ha, and a white glove that was meant to be her version of a glass slipper. After a romantic encounter at the ball where Benedict Bridgerton removes one of her gloves, Sophie is forced to flee, leaving the silk memento behind.
While the story expects us to focus on Benedict’s desperate search for the “Lady in Silver,” fans are stuck on the fact that Sophie seems to have lost the matching glove, too. When she is later kicked out by her stepmother and moves to a country estate, the remaining glove appears to vanish into thin air.
Social media users have been quick to point out that Sophie didn’t seem to pack the item when she reconnected with Benedict at his cottage. One fan on Instagram noted that since she left her bags behind, the glove was likely inside them, making its recovery a major plot hole. Others have joked that they can’t get past it, obsessing over whether another maid might have secretly salvaged the heirloom for her.
This isn’t the only “Easter egg” the Ton has discovered in the new episodes, though some are less intentional than others. Sharp-eyed viewers caught a modern Band-Aid on the ear of Katie Leung, who plays the formidable Araminta, likely used to hide a contemporary piercing. TikTok users were quick to roast the slip-up, asking if Band-Aids in this era were the latest trend from London’s finest apothecaries.
As of February, the stars of the show are keeping just as busy off-screen as they prepare for the release of Part 2. Luke Thompson, who has finally taken the lead as Benedict, is currently filming the thriller Elsinore, a modern reimagining of Hamlet.
Meanwhile, Yerin Ha has been celebrating the success of her recent Netflix series, The Survivors, and was recently spotted at the Paris World Premiere of Bridgerton looking far more glamorous than her character’s maid attire.
The fourth season, which is based on Julia Quinn’s novel An Offer From a Gentleman, has already been praised for its more “grounded” take on class struggle. Fans are particularly excited about the return of Jonathan Bailey and Simone Ashley as Anthony and Kate, who were missing from the early episodes.
With the final four chapters set to arrive on February 26, the pressure is on for Benedict to finally look inside the glove he’s been carrying, which apparently contains a very obvious family crest he’s been ignoring.
Whether the missing glove eventually makes a magical reappearance or remains lost to the halls of the Cavender estate, the chemistry between the new leads has already solidified this season as a fan favorite. Between the “Cinderella” tropes and the accidental Regency Band-Aids, there is plenty to talk about while we wait for the finale.
Do you think Sophie’s missing glove will be the key to Benedict finally discovering her true identity in the final episodes, or is this just a simple continuity error that the producers hoped we wouldn’t notice? Share your thoughts in the comments.
