‘Dexter: Resurrection’ Drops New Teaser and Reveals Season 2 Premiere Date

Dexter Morgan is getting ready for another bloody Halloween. Paramount+ has officially announced the premiere date for Dexter: Resurrection Season 2, and fans will not have to wait much longer to see Michael C. Hall return as the famous serial killer. The new season will premiere on October 30, just one day before Halloween, which feels like the perfect time for Dexter to return with more secrets, more bodies, and more trouble.

The timing is also special because the Dexter franchise is celebrating 20 years since the original series first premiered in October 2006. What started as a dark crime drama about a killer who secretly hunted other killers has grown into a huge franchise with several different chapters. After Dexter, fans got Dexter: New Blood and then the prequel Dexter: Original Sin. Now Dexter: Resurrection is keeping the story alive, with Season 2 promising to put its main character in a very different kind of situation.

This time, Dexter is not simply dealing with one dangerous enemy. According to Paramount+’s official season description, he will find himself caught between two killers who could not be more different. One is an older and highly feared murderer with a long history of violence, while the other is a younger killer creating chaos across New York. That puts Dexter in a dangerous position because both men could become serious problems for him.

The two killers have already been revealed. Brian Cox plays Don Framt, better known as the New York Ripper, while Dan Stevens plays Owen Stark, also known as the Five Borough Killer. Framt was introduced as a retired murderer whose past still has a strong effect on the people who survived him. Stark, meanwhile, appears to be a much more active threat. He reportedly uses threatening phone calls to warn police about what he is going to do before carrying out his crimes.

But the biggest surprise may be that Dexter is facing something that has nothing to do with another serial killer. The official description also teases Dexter dealing with a midlife crisis. After everything he has survived, killed, and hidden over the years, it seems the character is finally being forced to deal with some very human problems. Of course, this is Dexter we are talking about, so there is little chance his personal struggles will be completely normal.

The second season is also bringing plenty of familiar faces back into the story. Jack Alcott returns as Harrison Morgan, Dexter’s son, while Uma Thurman, Ntare Guma Mbaho Mwine, Kadia Saraf, Dominic Fumusa, and James Remar are also back. Desmond Harrington is getting an even bigger role as Lieutenant Joey Quinn after appearing briefly in the first season. Krysten Ritter will also return as Mia LaPierre, also known as Lady Vengeance.

There are several new faces joining the cast as well. Bokeem Woodbine plays Captain Mixon, while Nona Parker Johnson plays Fiona Mixon, a homicide unit training officer who becomes connected to Harrison. Gabriel Luna is also joining the season as Ray Ballard, a serial killer known as the Sleepy-Eyed Stranger. With this many killers entering Dexter’s world, it is safe to expect plenty of danger before the season is over.

Paramount+ has already given fans a quick taste of what is coming with the first teaser. The 40-second clip shows Dexter getting fitted for a new pair of glasses, but naturally, the scene quickly connects back to his darker side. The teaser ends with the simple promise that Dexter is back “sharper than ever.” It is a small joke, but it also makes it clear that the show is not losing its dark sense of humor.

Clyde Phillips is returning as showrunner and executive producer, continuing his long connection to the Dexter franchise. Michael C. Hall is also among the executive producers. The series is once again mixing the old characters fans know with new killers who could completely change Dexter’s life.

After 20 years, Dexter Morgan clearly is not ready to disappear. And this time, his biggest challenge might not be staying ahead of the police or another killer. It might be figuring out what he wants from his own life while everything around him continues to fall apart.
