Eva Mendes Confesses Jealousy Over Ryan Gosling On-Screen Partner
In a world of Hollywood rumors and red-carpet rivalries, Eva Mendes has finally revealed the one “actor” who truly makes her green with envy. Mendes, who has been in a committed partnership with Ryan Gosling for over fourteen years, recently took to social media to weigh in on his latest leading role.
While Gosling has shared the screen with some of the industry’s most beautiful women, it turns out his most intimidating co-star isn’t human at all. Responding to a promotional post for Gosling’s upcoming sci-fi epic, Project Hail Mary, Mendes playfully confessed her feelings about a certain character named Rocky.
She noted that this was the only co-star I’ve ever been jealous of because of the incredible amount of time the two spent together on set. The actress even jokingly pointed out that the pair had seemingly gotten each other’s rings, questioning the nature of their deep on-screen bond with a string of humorous emojis.
Rocky is, in fact, a multi-legged extraterrestrial brought to life through a mix of high-end puppetry and CGI. In the film, Gosling portrays Ryland Grace, a middle-school teacher who wakes up on a spaceship with no memory and must team up with a mysterious alien to save humanity.
Despite the lighthearted jealousy, Mendes has been her partner’s biggest cheerleader, frequently sharing trailers and countdowns for the movie, which is set to hit theaters on March 20.

This rare public interaction delighted fans who have followed the couple since they met on the set of The Place Beyond the Pines in 2011. The duo is famously protective of their private life, rarely appearing together at industry events or sharing glimpses of their two daughters, Esmeralda and Amada.
However, Mendes has recently been more vocal about her “partnership parenting” style, explaining that she and Gosling often rotate their schedules so one parent is always present for their children while the other is working.
As of February, both stars are successfully balancing their creative passions with their domestic life. Eva Mendes has spent the last decade transitioning away from the screen to focus on her thriving entrepreneurial ventures, including her successful skincare collaboration with Skura Style and her inclusive fashion lines.
She also celebrated the success of her 2024 children’s book, Desi, Mami, and the Never-Ending Worries, which has become a staple for parents navigating childhood anxiety. Ryan Gosling, meanwhile, is currently at the peak of his “Ken-ergy” era following his Oscar-nominated turn in Barbie.
Aside from Project Hail Mary, which also stars Sandra Hüller and Milana Vayntrub, Gosling is rumored to be attached to a new Star Wars project currently filming in the United Kingdom.
Are you more excited to see Ryan Gosling’s comedic chemistry with a CGI alien in space, or are you still holding out hope for a surprise on-screen reunion between him and Eva Mendes in the near future? Share your thoughts in the comments.
