Brad Pitt Shares the Movie He Considers an All Time Favorite
Brad Pitt has solidified his legacy as one of the most significant movie stars in Hollywood history, moving seamlessly between blockbuster spectacles and prestige dramas. Over the decades, he has become a frequent collaborator for top-tier directors, starring in Quentin Tarantino’s Inglourious Basterds and Once Upon a Time in Hollywood, as well as the Coen brothers’ quirky Burn After Reading.
Just as fans have their own favorite Pitt performances, the actor himself has a deep appreciation for the classics that shaped the medium. While visiting the JM Video store in Paris, Pitt pointed to Werner Herzog’s 1982 masterpiece Fitzcarraldo as one of his all-time favorites.
He was particularly fascinated by the chaotic history of the film’s production, which is famously documented in the film Burden of Dreams. The Herzog epic follows a rubber baron who attempts to haul a massive steamship over a steep hill in the Peruvian jungle to build an opera house.
Pitt noted the stark difference between the original lead actor, Jason Robards, and the man who eventually finished the role, Klaus Kinski. He observed that while Robards brought a sense of joy to the character’s obsession, Kinski’s version was filled with a manic, high-energy rage.
Pitt expressed his admiration for Kinski’s intensity, despite the well-documented and often violent friction between the actor and the director. He remarked that Kinski’s portrayal added a unique and unexpected layer to the character, calling the Irish protagonist manic in a way that made the film unforgettable.
For Pitt, this raw and unpredictable energy is exactly why the movie remains a standout in his personal collection. As of early this year, the 62-year-old actor shows no signs of slowing down his own creative output.
He recently made headlines during the broadcast of Super Bowl 60, where Netflix premiered the first teaser trailer for The Adventures of Cliff Booth. This highly anticipated project serves as a sequel to Once Upon a Time in Hollywood, with David Fincher stepping into the director’s chair to bring a Tarantino-penned script to life.
In this upcoming film, Pitt reprises his Oscar-winning role as the legendary stuntman, who has now transitioned into a professional studio “fixer.” The movie features a massive ensemble cast, including Elizabeth Debicki, Yahya Abdul-Mateen II, and Carla Gugino, while Timothy Olyphant returns as the actor James Stacy.
Filming for the $200 million production officially wrapped in mid-January, and it is expected to be a major summer blockbuster for the streaming platform. Aside from his work on the Cliff Booth sequel, Pitt is still riding high on the success of his racing drama, F1, which dominated the box office in late 2025.
In that film, he played Sonny Hayes, a veteran driver returning to the grid to mentor a young teammate played by Damson Idris. The movie was praised for its ultra-realistic racing sequences, many of which were filmed during actual Grand Prix weekends with the support of the real Formula 1 community.
Outside of acting, Pitt remains a powerhouse producer through his company, Plan B Entertainment, which recently celebrated a major win at the Independent Spirit Awards for the film Train Dreams.
