Burton, who directed both the film and the series, continues to serve as director and executive producer for “Wednesday.”

Ryder joins a star-studded cast that already includes Jenna Ortega, Emma Myers, Hunter Doohan, Joy Sunday, Moosa Mostafa, Georgie Farmer, Isaac Ordonez, Billie Piper, Luyanda Unati Lewis-Nyawo, Victor Dorobantu, Evie Templeton, Luis Guzmán, Catherine Zeta-Jones, Joanna Lumley, and Fred Armisen. Recently, Eva Green was also announced as Morticia Addams’ sister Ophelia.
Ryder’s history with Burton includes iconic films like Edward Scissorhands, Frankenweenie, and both the original and the 2024 sequel of Beetlejuice. She is also a two-time Oscar nominee, recognized for her roles in The Age of Innocence and Little Women. On television, Ryder most recently appeared in the final season of Stranger Things and has credits in The Plot Against America and Show Me a Hero.
