Netflix Finally Makes a Big Decision About ‘The Night Agent’ Season 4
Netflix has officially greenlit a fourth season of The Night Agent, and fans will see production move to Los Angeles, according to reporting by Nellie Andreeva. The political action thriller stars Gabriel Basso as Peter Sutherland and has filmed across multiple countries since its debut.
Series creator and showrunner Shawn Ryan shared his excitement about the renewal, saying, “It’s been a wild ride filming The Night Agent in five countries across three continents to this point and we’re so thrilled that the adventures of Peter Sutherland will continue into Season 4. Our writers, our cast and our crew stand ready to answer the call to bring our incredible fans even more twists, turns and thrills.”
The series has had a globe-trotting production history. Season 1 filmed in Canada, Season 2 primarily in New York with shoots in Thailand and Türkiye, and Season 3 included Mexico and the Dominican Republic. The upcoming season will focus mostly on Los Angeles, with no international locations planned at the start. Ryan hinted that the story will explore a part of Los Angeles that operates on a bigger scale than New York and that Peter will have a new partner for this season.
The renewal follows the release of Season 3 on February 19, 2026. Netflix reportedly wanted to see how the new season performed before confirming Season 4, especially because Luciane Buchanan, who played Rose, did not return as Peter’s female lead. The first weekend of Season 3 drew 8.4 million views in Netflix’s weekly English ranking, down from 13.9 million for Season 2. By Week 2, however, the show gained 9.9 million views, with Seasons 1 and 2 returning to the Top 10 with 2.9 million and 2.7 million views respectively.

Season 4 production is expected to start by late May, using a $31.6 million tax credit Sony Pictures TV received to move filming from New York to Los Angeles. Ryan confirmed that writers have already been working on scripts and breaking stories for the new season.
In terms of story, Season 4 will continue to follow Peter Sutherland and will bring back several Season 3 characters. Ryan also mentioned that the new season will challenge the justification of the Night Action program, expanding the series’ political intrigue and high-stakes action.
Season 3 saw Peter tracking a young Treasury agent who fled to Istanbul with sensitive government intel after killing his boss. He teamed up with journalist Genesis Rodriguez to uncover a dark money network while avoiding deadly assassins.
Executive producers for the series include Shawn Ryan and Marney Hochman for MiddKid Productions, Seth Gordon and Julia Gunn for Exhibit A, James Vanderbilt, William Sherak, Paul Neinstein, and Nicole Tossou for Project X, and David Beaubaire for Sunset Lane Media. Other producers include Munis Rashid, Paul Bernard, Guy Ferland, and Seth Fisher.
Netflix has been investing heavily in Los Angeles productions, including titles like Nobody Wants This Season 2, Running Point Season 2, The Lincoln Lawyer Season 4, and the upcoming film Animals directed by Ben Affleck, along with series like Beef Season 2 and Monster Season 4.
The announcement of Season 4 ensures that fans of The Night Agent will get to follow Peter Sutherland’s next mission in a new city with fresh twists.
Moving the show to Los Angeles could give it a fresh vibe and open up new story possibilities. The show has proven popular, and this new setting might keep viewers engaged while introducing new challenges for Peter.
