DC shared a fun new promotional short on X that puts Milly Alcock’s ‘Supergirl‘ front and center alongside a very distracted Krypto and a box of Milk-Bone treats. The cheeky clip, captioned with the tagline “universe is between Supergirl,” wraps up with the knowing punchline “Well, almost anything,” making it clear that even a Kryptonian superdog has his limits when biscuits are on the table.

The partnership between DC Studios and Milk-Bone is part of a broader promotional push tied to the new DCU, with the dog treat brand having already launched a limited-edition “Good Boy” box in connection with the Superman film. That earlier campaign leaned heavily into Krypto’s role alongside David Corenswet’s Clark Kent, and this new ‘Supergirl’ spot appears to be a natural continuation, shifting the superpup’s allegiance to his canonical owner.

In the DCU, Krypto belongs to Kara Zor-El, with the two reuniting memorably at the end of ‘Superman’ when a notably intoxicated Kara arrived at the Fortress of Solitude, greeted her cousin, and promptly left with Krypto in tow for further off-world adventures. That moment set up not only Kara’s upcoming solo film but also the playful dynamic between her and the superdog that the Milk-Bone spot clearly leans into.

Alcock herself has described Krypto as Kara’s “whole universe,” explaining that the dog serves as her anchor to her family and her past life, and that with Kara having lost her people and her home, Krypto is one of the few remaining connections to everything she once knew. That emotional context makes the lighthearted nature of the ad land a little differently for fans already invested in the character, turning a simple dog treat commercial into a wink at a genuinely affecting on-screen relationship.

‘Supergirl’ is directed by Craig Gillespie and written by Ana Nogueira, based on the 2021 comic series by Tom King and Bilquis Evely. The film follows Kara on a galaxy-spanning revenge mission alongside an unlikely young companion named Ruthye, with the story positioning this version of the character as darker and more morally complicated than audiences might expect. Joining Alcock in the cast are Matthias Schoenaerts as the villain Krem of the Yellow Hills, Jason Momoa as Lobo, and David Corenswet reprising his role as Superman.

DC Studios boss James Gunn, speaking on The Howard Stern Show, described Alcock as potentially the best casting decision of his entire career, calling her performance in the film “absolutely stunning.” That level of enthusiasm from the architect of the new DCU has only intensified fan anticipation as the release date draws closer.

Alcock herself has been candid about the pressure of her solo debut, admitting during the CCXP Mexico promotional event, “Of course I’m scared. Of course I want people to like me and the movie.” The Milk-Bone spot, which puts her in loose and charming company with a fluffy dog and a treat box rather than a cape and a sword, is a welcome reminder that the marketing campaign for this film knows how to balance the heavy cosmic stakes with something genuinely warm. ‘Supergirl’ is scheduled to fly into theaters on June 26, 2026, as part of Chapter One of the DCU.
