Timothée Chalamet Sparks Fashion Debate With Bold Oscars Look
Timothée Chalamet sparked fresh online debates with his look at the 2026 Oscars. The actor arrived at the Dolby Theatre on Sunday wearing an all-white Givenchy suit, featuring wide-legged pants and matching shoes. Fans immediately compared the outfit to everything from early 2000s boy bands to Colonel Sanders, sparking a flurry of jokes on social media.
“Timothée Chalamet stuns as Kevin from the Backstreet Boys,” one fan wrote on X, while another responded, “Don’t you DARE disrespect Kevin Richardson like this.” Other comments were just as cheeky, including “What in the Keven Federline is this?!” and “He looks like a prom date who has really bad breath and didn’t order a corsage.”
The images of Chalamet in his wide-legged white suit were widely shared, with many noting the resemblance to his 2018 Oscars ensemble.

Chalamet’s red-carpet choice came after a tense awards season that saw the actor in the spotlight not just for fashion, but also for his public remarks. Recently, he drew criticism for fully leaning into the personality of his Marty Supreme character during interviews and appearances. In December, he told a journalist, “It’s been like seven, eight years that I feel like I’ve been handing in really, really committed, top-of-the-line performances. This is really some top-level s***.”

His comments on performing arts also caused backlash. At a CNN & Variety town hall in February with Matthew McConaughey, Chalamet said “no one cares about” opera and ballet. The remarks drew responses from professional dancers, opera singers, and Hollywood stars like Jamie Lee Curtis and Nathan Lane.
Even Oscars host Conan O’Brien made light of the controversy in his opening monologue. “Security is extremely tight. I’m told there are concerns about attacks from both the opera and ballet communities,” he joked. Directing the comment at Chalamet, he added, “They’re just mad you left out jazz.”
Chalamet’s white suit may have been clean and classic in color, but the online reaction proves that his bold choices, on and off the red carpet, are keeping audiences talking.
Chalamet continues to push boundaries, whether it’s in fashion or in how he presents himself publicly. Some will love the daring attitude, while others see it as too much. What do you think of his Oscars look and his public persona? Share your thoughts in the comments.
