Shia LaBeouf Strips Down in Italy, Pleads for a ‘Match’ in Public in His Underwear
Shia LaBeouf made headlines yet again following a bizarre incident in an Italian hotel lobby. The actor was reportedly wearing only boxer briefs and had a cigarette hanging from his mouth as he asked someone nearby for a match. TMZ obtained video showing LaBeouf shouting, “C’mon, bro… got a match? Give me a f-cking match!” A woman in the lobby appeared uncomfortable and quickly walked away from the scene.
LaBeouf was in Italy for a personal reason: attending his father’s baptism. Initially, his lawyer faced a court challenge because the actor was supposed to continue his substance abuse treatment in New Orleans. However, the court approved his travel after his lawyer petitioned successfully.
This isn’t LaBeouf’s first recent legal issue. Earlier this year, during Mardi Gras in New Orleans, the actor was involved in a bar fight in the Marigny neighborhood. Reports say he punched two men and head-butted another at R Bar. LaBeouf was briefly jailed and received medical care following the incident.

Allegations also surfaced that he used homophobic slurs during the altercation, prompting Judge Simone Levine to set his bond at $105,000. Two of the alleged victims are members of the LGBTQ+ community, and one has called for hate crime charges citing state law.
In a YouTube interview with Channel 5, LaBeouf addressed the Mardi Gras incident, explaining that he felt threatened and uncomfortable. “Three gay dudes [were] next to me, touching my leg… I got scared,” he said. He also admitted, “I’m sorry—if that’s homophobic, then I’m that.” He clarified that he was wrong for physically touching anyone and called it the end of his statement on the issue.
The actor reflected on his behavior further, suggesting that anger and ego, rather than alcohol, are central to his struggles. “I think I have a small man complex… I’m gonna address it … I think it’s something that has to do with anger and ego more so than my drinking, but that’s where I’m at now on my journey, and I’m trying to navigate it,” he said to journalist Andrew Callaghan.
LaBeouf’s attorney, Sarah Chervinsky, argued that her client should not face harsher treatment because of his fame. “No regular person would be required to post over $100,000 in bonds and be jailed twice for a single misdemeanor incident,” she said.
Amid all this, LaBeouf’s personal life has also been under scrutiny. The actor has been separated from his wife, Mia Goth, for over a year. Sources close to LaBeouf told TMZ that he was not the cause of their split and that he still cares deeply for Goth. He continues to be very involved in their daughter Isabel’s life while Goth focuses on her work.
This latest episode in Italy comes as another public reminder of LaBeouf’s ongoing struggles with legal and personal issues. His behavior has sparked debate about accountability, fame, and personal responsibility.
This incident shows how chaotic life has been for LaBeouf recently. While it’s easy to judge, it’s clear he’s dealing with legal, personal, and emotional challenges all at once.
