Netflix Drops the Full Cast for Its New Live-Action ‘Scooby-Doo’ Series
Meet a new version of Mystery Inc. Netflix has officially shared the main cast for its upcoming live-action “Scooby-Doo” TV series, giving fans a fresh look at the classic group. The announcement was reported by Entertainment Tonight and other outlets covering the reveal.
The show will feature Mckenna Grace as Daphne Blake, Abby Ryder Fortson as Velma Dinkley, Maxwell Jenkins as Fred Jones, and Tanner Hagen as Shaggy Rogers. This marks a new generation stepping into the famous roles.
Mckenna Grace is already well known from several recent projects. She appeared in “Scream 7” and “Five Nights at Freddy’s 2,” and she is also set to star in the upcoming “Hunger Games” prequel, “Sunrise on the Reaping.” Many people also recognize her from “Gifted” and the “Ghostbusters” movies.
Abby Ryder Fortson gained attention for her lead role in the 2023 film “Are You There God? It’s Me, Margaret.” She also played Cassie Lang in the first two “Ant-Man” movies before the role was later recast.

Maxwell Jenkins has worked with Netflix before in “Lost in Space,” and he has also appeared in “Sense8” and the film “Arcadian.” Tanner Hagen is newer compared to the others, but he has had a role in the first season of “The Pitt.”
The series will tell a new origin story for the group. According to Netflix, it is a “modern reimagining” that shows how the team first came together. The story begins during their last summer at camp, where Shaggy and Daphne get caught up in a strange mystery involving a lost Great Dane puppy.
The official description says, “During their final summer at camp, old friends Shaggy and Daphne get embroiled in a haunting mystery surrounding a lonely lost Great Dane puppy that may have been a witness to a supernatural murder.”
As the story continues, Velma and Fred join them to solve the case. The mystery grows darker and starts to affect each of them in personal ways. The description adds, “Together with the pragmatic and scientific townie, Velma, and the strange, but ever so handsome new kid, Freddy, they set out to solve the case that is pulling each of them into a creepy nightmare that threatens to expose all of their secrets.”
The show is being produced by Greg Berlanti, who is known for working on series like “Riverdale” and “Chilling Adventures of Sabrina.”
This project is important because it will be the first live-action “Scooby-Doo” TV series ever made. The characters were previously brought to life in early 2000s movies, and there have been many animated versions over the years, from the original “Scooby-Doo, Where Are You!” to newer shows and films.
With this new cast and story, Netflix is trying to bring a familiar mystery to a new audience while still keeping the spirit of the original.
