Michael Jackson Biopic Drops New Teaser Promising Electrifying Tribute
A new teaser for the upcoming Michael Jackson biopic has just dropped, giving fans a new glimpse at Jaafar Jackson stepping into the legendary pop star’s shoes.
Directed by Antoine Fuqua and written by John Logan, the film traces Michael Jackson’s journey from his early days with the Jackson 5 to his breakthrough solo career. Jaafar, Michael’s nephew, makes his acting debut in the lead role, with Juliano Krue Valdi playing a young Michael. The ensemble cast also includes Nia Long, Laura Harrier, Miles Teller, Colman Domingo, and more.
The biopic has been in the works since 2019, when producer Graham King acquired the rights to Michael Jackson’s life story. Lionsgate announced the project in 2022, with Fuqua joining as director in early 2023.

Casting began the same month, and filming took place from January to May 2024, with additional photography wrapping up in June 2025. According to Deadline Hollywood, the film is set to premiere in the United States on April 24, through Lionsgate, with Universal Pictures handling international distribution.
The teaser highlights key moments in Michael’s life, showing early performances with the Jackson 5, hints of his solo career, and appearances by major figures from his life, including his parents Joe and Katherine Jackson, played by Colman Domingo and Nia Long, as well as his siblings and other music legends.
Miles Teller portrays entertainment lawyer John Branca, while Kat Graham appears as Diana Ross, and Larenz Tate plays Berry Gordy. The teaser also hints at the challenges Michael faced, including controversies that defined parts of his career.
Producer Graham King emphasized that the film aims to “humanize but not sanitize and present the most compelling, unbiased story” about Michael Jackson, including sensitive topics such as the child sexual abuse allegations.
Paris Jackson, Michael’s daughter, has publicly criticized the project, stating she had no involvement in the film and calling an early script “sugar-coated”. She also expressed concerns over casting choices, particularly Miles Teller as Branca, suggesting that some decisions may “enrich and aggrandize” individuals involved in Michael’s story.
The teaser has already stirred conversation online, as fans react to Jaafar Jackson’s portrayal and the film’s first visual glimpse of the pop icon’s life. With the release scheduled for April, anticipation is building for what is expected to be a major cinematic event celebrating Michael Jackson’s legacy.
