Lili Reinhart Bares a Darker, Temptingly Raw Side in Intimate ‘Forbidden Fruits’ BTS Moments
Lili Reinhart is giving fans a closer look at her latest project, sharing a set of gorgeous behind-the-scenes photos from Forbidden Fruits. The images were posted on her Instagram, where she opened up about the experience of making the film and the people she worked with.
Alongside the photos, she wrote, “Forbidden Fruits is in theaters now 🍎 I’m so proud of this indie film & so thankful to have made new sisters along the way💗 thank you to @atwwalloway and @lilyhoughton for conjuring this witchy coven 🔮”. The post quickly caught attention, with fans reacting to both the aesthetic of the film and the cast’s chemistry.
Forbidden Fruits is a 2026 American comedy horror movie that brings together a strong ensemble cast including Lili Reinhart, Lola Tung, Alexandra Shipp, Emma Chamberlain, and Gabrielle Union. The film is directed by Meredith Alloway, who also co-wrote the script with Lily Houghton. The story is based on Houghton’s stage play Of the Woman Came the Beginning of Sin, and Through Her We All Die.
The movie first premiered at the South by Southwest Film & TV Festival 2026 on March 16. After that, it was released in the United States on March 27, through Independent Film Company and Shudder.

It follows a secretive femme cult which is disrupted by a new recruit forcing them to face their darkest truths or face deadly consequences.

The story follows a mall employee named Apple, played by Reinhart, who secretly runs a small, witchy cult in the basement of her workplace. She is joined by Cherry, played by Pedretti, and Fig, played by Shipp. Things start to fall apart when a new employee, Pumpkin, begins to question their tight-knit dynamic. As tensions rise, the group is forced to deal with their own hidden issues, or face violent consequences.
Production on the film started in Toronto in March 2025, with Union joining the cast a month later, based on production reports. The project also had early industry buzz after appearing on the 2023 Black List, which highlights popular unproduced screenplays.
Reception has been mixed to positive so far. According to Rotten Tomatoes, 74 percent of 34 critic reviews are positive. Meanwhile, Metacritic gave the film a score of 56 out of 100, suggesting more mixed reactions overall.
With Reinhart now sharing personal moments from the set, the film is getting another wave of attention, especially among fans curious about its eerie tone and tight cast dynamic.
