The three young stars of the upcoming Harry Potter TV series are already earning a magical payday. According to The Sun, Dominic McLaughlin, 12, who plays Harry, along with Arabella Stanton, 11, as Hermione, and Alastair Stout, 12, as Ron, are each set to receive £500,000 for the first series.

A source told The Sun, “This is a whopping payday for three kids who haven’t even hit their teenage years yet — and it’s just the beginning. They’re being paid £500,000 for the first series. If they keep this up, they’re on track to be multi-millionaires before they turn 18.”

The new cast takes over from Daniel Radcliffe, now 36, Rupert Grint, 37, and Emma Watson, 35, who first brought JK Rowling’s beloved characters to life on the big screen. More than 32,000 children auditioned for the roles in this Warner Bros. production, which will adapt all seven of Rowling’s books over the next decade, with her serving as an executive producer.

The first series, Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone, is set to premiere on Christmas Day on HBO Max. In the recently released two-minute teaser trailer, fans got a first look at the young actors, 25 years after the original film series became a worldwide phenomenon.

“It’s a lot of money for young kids to be handed overnight, but they’re about to become three of the most famous children in the world,” the insider said. “Similarly to when Daniel, Emma and Rupert were cast, their lives are going to change forever.”

Each of the new actors reportedly earns upwards of £60,000 per episode for the eight-part first series. The teaser has sparked debate among fans, with some arguing it looks too similar to the original movies. However, it introduces Harry at a school for “muggles” before he makes his iconic journey to Hogwarts.

Reflecting on the casting, Daniel Radcliffe said, “They just seem so young. I just look at them and say, ‘Oh it’s crazy I was doing that at that age’. But it’s also incredibly sweet and I hope they’re having a great time.”

Radcliffe has since built a fortune of over £100 million through other films and stage work. Watson is reportedly worth £64 million, while Grint has earned an estimated £50 million from acting projects.

The new generation of Harry Potter stars is stepping into enormous shoes, and the huge paychecks show just how much confidence HBO Max and Warner Bros. have in them.

What do you think about these staggering salaries for such young actors? Do you think they deserve it, or is it too much too soon? Share your thoughts in the comments.
