A video from Vanity Fair featuring members of the Saturday Night Live cast has ignited a social media firestorm after viewers noticed significant edits to a story shared by Chloe Fineman.

The original segment, part of the magazine’s game show series where co-stars test their knowledge of one another, featured Fineman alongside Mikey Day, Sarah Sherman, Ashley Padilla, Jane Wickline, and James Austin Johnson. The controversy centers on Fineman’s recount of being terminated from a summer camp position during her teenage years.

In the version currently available on the publication’s YouTube channel, Fineman explains that she was fired as a camp counselor at age sixteen for a retaliatory prank. She describes how a young boy at the camp would repeatedly lift her shirt, prompting her to plan a trick during a group hike.

“I was fired as a camp counselor,” Fineman says in the edited clip. “I pantsed a boy. He would lift my shirt all the time. It was a different time. He would be like, ‘Hey, could I have a hug?’ And then I’d go to hug him, and he’d lift my shirt, like a ****.”

Fineman continues the story by describing how she distracted the boy by pointing out a bird before pulling his pants down. However, TikTok users were quick to highlight that several specific, uncomfortable details from the initial upload were scrubbed.

In the first version of the video, Fineman explicitly stated that the child was only six years old and mentioned the resulting exposure following the prank. The original cut also featured a stunned reaction from Ashley Padilla, who jokingly remarked, “Oh, honey, I think you’re on a list somewhere.”

The quiet removal of these details has led to speculation regarding whether the changes were a response to public criticism or a request from a talent representative. While the edited footage attempts to frame the incident as a youthful lapse in judgment between peers, the omitted age of the child has changed the context for many viewers.

Representatives for the magazine have not yet offered an official explanation for the alterations to the viral segment. Aside from this digital controversy, Chloe Fineman has maintained a high profile as she navigates her sixth season on Saturday Night Live.

Her fellow cast members in the video are also balancing various solo ventures this spring. Mikey Day continues to host the hit baking competition Is It Cake? on Netflix. James Austin Johnson remains a staple of the late-night circuit, frequently appearing in political sketches.
