Jennifer Aniston once shared that there was one role she always dreamed of playing, even though her career has taken her in many different directions. Speaking at the Screen Actors Guild Awards, where she won for her performance in The Morning Show, she opened up about it in a very honest way.

“I wanted to be Wonder Woman,” she said. “But I waited too long.”

According to her own words at the event, timing simply never worked in her favor. Even though Jennifer Aniston is one of the most recognizable actresses in the world, she didn’t get the chance to take on that iconic superhero role.

The character of Wonder Woman has a long and interesting history. Back in the 1970s, she was played by Cathy Lee Crosby in a TV movie, and later became famous through the TV series starring Lynda Carter. Years later, the role returned in modern superhero films, where Gal Gadot brought the character to a new generation, starting with Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice.

Even though Aniston was a big star during those later years, the timing still didn’t line up. She was too young during the earlier era of the character and later considered too old for the newer version in the DC films. Because of that, the role was never really within reach.

Still, it doesn’t seem like she regrets it. In the same interview, she made it clear that she is excited about where she is now in her career. “I really, honestly, feel that I’m just kicking into a creative stride,” she said. “I’ve just discovered a new love of this in a new way that I didn’t know that I had before, so I almost have new eyes that I’m seeing what it is that I do as an actor.”

Meanwhile, the future of Wonder Woman is still unclear. James Gunn is now leading a new version of the DC universe, and fans are waiting to see who will take on the role next. One of the upcoming projects is Paradise Lost, a story set on the island of Themyscira before Wonder Woman’s time, which has been compared to Game of Thrones.

The information comes from Aniston’s own comments during the SAG Awards and later reports about DC’s future plans. Even though she never got to play her dream superhero, she seems more focused on what comes next than on what could have been.
