First Trailer for ‘Insidious: Out of the Further’ Unveiled at CinemaCon
Sony has shown the first trailer for Insidious: Out of the Further during its CinemaCon presentation in Las Vegas. The reveal took place at CinemaCon 2026, where the studio highlighted the next chapter in its horror franchise.
At the event, Sony executive Adam Bergerman spoke about the movie and said it pushes the fear level even further than past entries. “I assure you this movie is the most terrifying in the franchise,” he said to the audience.
The new film continues the franchise but does not follow the same main characters from the previous story. Instead, it focuses on a new family. The story follows Gemma, played by Amelia Eve, who moves back into her childhood home with her daughter. Strange events begin after she starts experiencing disturbing dreams tied to a dark spirit world known as “The Further.”

Gemma soon learns she has a rare ability. She can enter this other realm and also bring its entities into the real world. This creates a dangerous situation, as evil forces begin to target her and her family.
In the trailer, Gemma describes her growing fear and confusion. “We were really happy until I started having these dreams,” she says. “I’m scaring my daughter. I need someone to tell me how to stop this.”
The movie is written and directed by Jacob Chase. It follows the events after Insidious: The Red Door and expands the same supernatural world. Familiar character Elise Rainier returns, played again by Lin Shaye, while Brandon Perea also joins the cast in a major role.
Production began in 2025 in Australia and wrapped later that year. The film is part of a long-running horror franchise that has earned more than 740 million dollars worldwide, according to Sony.
Insidious: Out of the Further is scheduled to release in the United States on August 21, through Sony Pictures Releasing.
This looks like a strong idea for the franchise. A new family and a new story can help keep things fresh, while still using the same horror world. The concept of bringing spirits into the real world sounds intense and could lead to some scary scenes. What do you think about this new direction?
