The creator of “Euphoria”, Sam Levinson, is facing fresh backlash after defending a controversial storyline involving Sydney Sweeney’s character Cassie Howard and her new OnlyFans plot in the show’s latest season.

The issue started after the Season 3 premiere aired on HBO. In the episode, Cassie begins working on an OnlyFans account. Some scenes quickly spread online and caused strong reactions from viewers. Many people said they were disturbed by what they saw, especially because Cassie is shown wearing outfits that include baby and dog costumes.

Social media users called the scenes “disgusting” and questioned why the actress would agree to film them.

Levinson responded to the criticism in an interview with The Hollywood Reporter. He explained that the intention behind the scenes was to show humor mixed with discomfort and exaggeration.

He said, “[Cassie] has got her dog house and her little dog ears and the nose, and that has its own humor, but what makes the scene is the fact that her housekeeper is the one filming it.”

He added, “What we wanted to always find is the other layer of absurdity that we’re able to tie into it so that we’re not too inside of her fantasy or illusion — the gag is to jump out, to break the wall.”

Levinson also spoke about the visual style of the scene and how it was designed. He explained that the team avoided a modern look and instead used an older-style house to create a strange and slightly uncomfortable feeling. According to him, even the lighting was made to feel harsh and unsettling to match the tone of Cassie’s situation.

He said the idea was to show how OnlyFans culture can look stylized on the surface but still feel empty or sad underneath.

Even with this explanation, many viewers were not convinced. Online reactions were strongly negative, with some people questioning the decision to include such scenes at all. Some comments focused on Sydney Sweeney, asking why she would agree to take part in the storyline. Others said the content felt wrong or unnecessary.

This is not the first time Sam Levinson has faced this kind of criticism. In the past, he has been accused by some viewers and critics of including overly s***** or uncomfortable content in his work. He has also been called a “perv” online by some people reacting to earlier seasons of “Euphoria.”

The new season of “Euphoria” continues the story of the main characters several years after high school. Cassie’s storyline is now focused on her engagement to Nate Jacobs, played by Jacob Elordi, while also exploring her new life choices and online persona.

The show continues to divide viewers, with some defending its bold style and others saying it goes too far.

This situation shows how different people react very differently to modern TV content, especially when it involves s**** themes and shock value. It also raises questions about where the line should be between storytelling and discomfort. What do you think about this storyline and the reactions it has caused?
