Daniel Radcliffe Reveals His Favorite and Least Favorite ‘Harry Potter’ Films, Says Fans May Disagree
Daniel Radcliffe has opened up about his personal ranking of the Harry Potter films, sharing which ones he likes most and which one sits at the bottom of his list. He made the comments during a recent appearance on the Happy Sad Confused podcast hosted by Josh Horowitz, as reported from the interview.
Instead of simply naming one favorite, Radcliffe went through the films in a bracket-style discussion, comparing them in pairs. The conversation started with the first two movies in the series.
When asked to choose between Sorcerer’s Stone and Chamber of Secrets, he picked the second one. He explained his choice by saying, “I would take Chamber of Secrets out of those two because I love the Basilisk.”
The next round compared Prisoner of Azkaban with Goblet of Fire. Radcliffe admitted this was a difficult choice and said he expected most fans to disagree with him. He said, “That’s actually tough. Um, I know…everyone wants me to say Azkaban. I know that’s how everyone else feels, but I love the stuff I got to do on the fourth movie was awesome,” before choosing Goblet of Fire.
He then moved on to Order of the Phoenix versus Half-Blood Prince. In this part, Radcliffe was very direct about his opinion. He chose Order of the Phoenix and placed Half-Blood Prince at the bottom of his list. He said, “Order of Phoenix, far and away. Half-Blood Prince is probably the bottom of the bracket for me.” He also added that he still thinks the film is good, but his ranking was based on personal preference.
In the final stage of the ranking, Radcliffe compared Goblet of Fire with Deathly Hallows Part 2. He ultimately chose the final film in the series as his overall favorite, giving the conclusion of the franchise the top spot in his personal ranking.
Radcliffe also spoke about how his feelings toward the early films have changed over time. He admitted that watching his younger performances used to make him uncomfortable. He said, “I would cringe watching the earlier films. Now I think the early films are sweet, and now I cringe watching myself when I was 18 or 19.”
According to the podcast interview, Radcliffe reflected on his long history with the franchise and how his perspective has shifted since growing up in the public eye.
Outside of the wizarding world, Radcliffe has continued acting in different projects. His most recent appearance was in the comedy series The Fall and Rise of Reggie Dinkins, which premiered in 2026.
It is interesting to see how Radcliffe’s opinions do not fully match what many fans usually think. Most people often rank Prisoner of Azkaban as the best, so his choice of Goblet of Fire might surprise a lot of viewers. It also shows how personal experience on set can shape how actors see their own work differently from audiences. What do you think about his ranking? Do you agree or disagree?
