‘Young Sherlock’ Season 2 Confirmed After Record-Breaking Success
Guy Ritchie’s series “Young Sherlock” has officially been renewed for a second season on Prime Video.
The show first launched earlier this year and quickly became one of the platform’s stronger performers. It spent more than 50 days on Prime Video’s streaming charts, showing steady interest from viewers over time.
“Young Sherlock” tells the story of Sherlock Holmes during his younger years as a university student. Instead of focusing on the well-known adult detective, the series explores how he starts developing his skills and mindset.
The cast is led by Hero Fiennes Tiffin, with supporting roles from Natascha McElhone, Joseph Fiennes, Dónal Finn, Zine Tseng, Max Irons, and Colin Firth. The series is produced in a style that feels closer to modern re-imaginings of Sherlock Holmes rather than older film versions.
Critics responded positively to the show after its release. On Rotten Tomatoes, it currently holds an 84% rating. The critical summary highlights its updated approach to the character, noting, “Young Sherlock doesn’t aim to recreate Conan Doyle’s work, rather, it takes pride in its liberal adaptation, delivering Guy Ritchie’s signature blend of precise entertainment, sly style, and ingratiating characters.”
The renewal also comes at a time when interest in Sherlock Holmes projects is strong across both film and television. Other related adaptations continue to develop, showing that the character remains popular with modern audiences.
This renewal feels expected because the show clearly connected with viewers quickly. A younger version of Sherlock gives the story a different angle while still keeping the character familiar. It will be interesting to see how the second season builds on that idea. What do you think about this version of Sherlock Holmes? Share your thoughts in the comments.
