Daytime Emmy Winner Kate Mansi Is Saying Goodbye to ‘General Hospital’ After Three Deeply Personal Years

‘General Hospital’ has been a fixture of American daytime television for decades, a drama that has built its legacy on the kind of sprawling, emotionally charged storytelling that keeps audiences returning year after year. Port Charles is a world defined by its family dynasties, and few names carry more weight within it than Corinthos-Davis.

Kate Mansi joined the cast of ‘General Hospital’ on May 24, 2023, stepping into the role of Kristina Corinthos-Davis. She became the fourth actress to take on the part, following Lexi Ainsworth and Lindsey Morgan, with Ainsworth having most recently held the role from 2015 through 2023. Mansi arrived with serious daytime credentials already behind her, having built a devoted fanbase during her time on NBC’s ‘Days of Our Lives’.

After three years in the role, Mansi has chosen to exit ‘General Hospital’, confirming the departure through soap journalist Stephanie Sloane’s newsletter, SoapSteph’s Soap Dish. Sloane noted she had been sitting on the news for some time before the story leaked online, prompting her to release the announcement early. Mansi’s final episodes are expected to air in June.

Speaking about her decision, Mansi said, “I’ve made the very difficult decision to leave General Hospital. I have a few new projects that require my full attention, and with my husband currently producing a series filming primarily abroad, I needed the flexibility to travel while continuing to develop and work in Los Angeles.” She told TV Insider that the time on the show had been genuinely meaningful, describing it as an unforgettable ride and expressing deep affection for being part of the Corinthos-Davis family.

Executive Producer Frank Valentini responded warmly, stating “We love Kate and support her decision to leave. The door is always open, and we appreciate all that she added to the show these past three years.” The show has no plans to recast the character of Kristina. That open-door sentiment reflects a departure handled with grace on both sides, which is not always the case in the sometimes turbulent world of daytime television.

During her three years on the show, Kristina’s storylines included serving as a surrogate for her sister Molly and T.J., a pregnancy that ended in the baby’s tragic death following a confrontation with Ava Jerome, and a romance with Blaze that allowed Mansi to represent the LGBTQ+ community on screen. Mansi received a Daytime Emmy nomination for Outstanding Supporting Actress in 2025 for her work in that surrogate storyline.

Mansi won a Daytime Emmy in 2017 for playing Abigail Deveraux on ‘Days of Our Lives’, where she had a nine-year run before transitioning to ‘General Hospital’. She also stepped behind the camera during her time on the soap, directing episodes that aired in November 2025 and March 2026. Her recent credits away from the show include the Amazon drama series ‘Casa Grande’ and a ‘Casa Grande’ film that debuted on Prime Video earlier this month.

Port Charles will feel her absence, and the Corinthos-Davis family tree loses one of its most compelling recent additions. Share your thoughts on Mansi’s departure in the comments, and what you think her three years as Kristina ultimately meant for the legacy of the character.
