Scarlet Witch’s Return Just Got a Major Boost, and It’s Not Coming From Marvel Itself

Few unresolved fates in the Marvel Cinematic Universe have haunted fans quite like Wanda Maximoff’s. Her ambiguous sacrifice at the end of ‘Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness’ left the door cracked open just enough to fuel years of speculation, theories, and cautious hope that the Scarlet Witch wasn’t truly gone for good.

That speculation has only intensified as Marvel’s next massive crossover event edges closer to release, with fans scouring every crumb of information for a sign that Wanda might finally be coming home.

Jennifer White, the stunt double for Scarlet Witch in the MCU, has reposted set photos alongside Elizabeth Olsen, fueling fresh speculation about Wanda’s potential return just as ‘Avengers: Doomsday’ undergoes additional reshoots. The since-viral post has sent fans into a frenzy, with reactions ranging from excitement to hesitant disbelief.

Marvel Just Announced a New Podcast Leading Into ‘Avengers: Doomsday’

According to reporting from The Direct, some of the cast and crew on ‘Avengers: Doomsday’ are currently filming additional scenes considered important to the finished film ahead of its December 18 release, with insider Daniel Richtman corroborating that production on the sequel, ‘Avengers: Secret Wars,’ is set to begin at the end of September. That timeline lines up with growing chatter that Scarlet Witch could be quietly worked back into the story during this final stretch of production.

Complicating matters further, Olsen herself has repeatedly denied involvement in the project. She told The Hollywood Reporter in March 2025 that she knew “nothing” about either ‘Avengers: Doomsday’ or ‘Avengers: Secret Wars,’ and has since confirmed she’ll be back home in the United States filming a separate project while both Avengers films shoot back to back in the United Kingdom.

Yet insider reports have continued to muddy that picture. According to scooper Alex Perez via The Cosmic Circus, evidence points to Wanda Maximoff appearing in the film despite Olsen’s absence from the original cast announcement, with claims that stunt doubles wearing masks were used to film scenes involving the character. That detail reportedly ties into a larger plot point involving Doctor Doom’s followers, many of whom are said to wear similar masks throughout the film.

Adding another layer to the mystery, rumors have also circulated suggesting Wanda could appear as a variant from the X-Men universe, tied to an earlier version of the script where Magneto rules Genosha alongside a “royal family” dynamic involving Wanda, Pietro, and Polaris as members of the Brotherhood of Mutants. X-Men actor James Marsden has teased the scale of this crossover without confirming specifics, describing the film as “an absolute collision of three gigantic universes” facing a serious existential threat.

Marvel’s official materials still haven’t listed Olsen among the confirmed ‘Avengers: Doomsday’ cast, and the film’s July trailer notably left Scarlet Witch out entirely. Even so, with reshoots actively underway and insiders continuing to point toward some form of Wanda’s involvement, the timing of White’s throwback post feels far from coincidental to fans desperate for confirmation.

Whether this latest tease amounts to anything concrete remains to be seen, but it’s clear the MCU fandom isn’t ready to let go of the possibility that Wanda Maximoff still has more story left to tell.
