Gal Gadot Just Broke Her Silence on What Really Happened With ‘Wonder Woman 3′

DC’s transition from the Snyderverse to James Gunn and Peter Safran’s rebuilt universe has never been short on drama, but few storylines have lingered as long as the fate of Wonder Woman. For years, fans have wondered exactly what was promised to Gal Gadot behind closed doors, and whether the DC Studios heads ever genuinely intended to bring her back for a third solo film.

That uncertainty has followed Gadot through multiple interviews over the past few years, with her account of those early conversations sometimes clashing with reports suggesting nothing was ever formally promised. Now, with her time as Wonder Woman officially behind her, Gadot has finally addressed the situation with more candor than she’s shown before.

Gal Gadot claims that James Gunn and Peter Safran told her they would make ‘Wonder Woman 3,’ but that it never happened. Speaking with Josh Horowitz on the Happy Sad Confused podcast, Gadot recalled, “They were like, ‘We’re going to develop it with you, the third…’ But I saw the way everybody else was handled… The Henry situation was not handled elegantly, to say the least. Same with Patty.”

That comment references two of the most contentious departures during DC’s regime change. Henry Cavill was famously welcomed back as Superman only to be pushed out again within weeks once Gunn and Safran took over, while director Patty Jenkins’ own version of ‘Wonder Woman 3’ ultimately fell apart after Warner Bros. leadership passed on her treatment for the sequel.

Gadot went on to reflect on watching those situations unfold and what it signaled to her about her own future with the character. “I feel like, you know, we’re all adults and it’s all good,” she said. “And it’s not even about them. They are there, and they’re there to do what they believe in, and it’s all good.”

Her comments echo claims she’s made in past interviews as well, including a previously reported exchange where she described being told by Gunn and Safran, “You’re in the best hands. We’re going to develop ‘Wonder Woman 3’ with you. We love you as Wonder Woman, you’ve got nothing to worry about.” Those earlier remarks had been met with pushback at the time, with sources suggesting no formal promises had actually been made.

DC Studios has since moved forward without Gadot in the role, with a new Wonder Woman project reportedly being written by Ana Nogueira, and Adria Arjona rumored as a possible replacement to lead the character going forward. That shift lines up with Gunn and Safran’s broader strategy of building the new DC Universe largely from scratch rather than continuing storylines tied to the previous era’s actors.

Gadot’s comments arrive as she continues promoting other projects outside the DC universe, including the upcoming Prime Video thriller ‘The Runner.’ Her tone throughout the interview suggested more resignation than resentment, framing the situation as simply part of how major franchise transitions tend to play out behind the scenes.

For a character and actor so closely associated with an entire era of DC films, Gadot’s remarks offer some of the clearest insight yet into how that chapter actually came to a close, even if the full picture remains shaped by conflicting accounts from all sides.
