Adria Arjona May Finally Be Revealed as DCU’s Wonder Woman Soon

Superhero casting secrets rarely stay buried for long, especially when an actor’s off-screen life keeps handing fans new clues to connect. Between social media follows, public relationships, and increasingly public training routines, piecing together a supposedly secret role has become something of a sport for dedicated franchise watchers.

That’s exactly the situation surrounding one of DC Studios’ most persistent casting rumors, one that’s been quietly building momentum for months without any official confirmation from the studio itself. With the actress at the center of the speculation now deep into her own press tour for an unrelated project, the timing may finally be right for that secret to come out.

According to Forbes contributor Paul Tassi, Adria Arjona playing Wonder Woman in James Gunn’s rebooted DC Universe has become what he calls the worst-kept secret in the industry, and he believes fans should expect that role to be officially confirmed shortly after her film ‘Onslaught’ wraps its theatrical run. It’s important to stress that this remains Tassi’s own analysis and theory rather than any official statement from DC Studios, Arjona, or Gunn himself, none of whom have directly addressed the casting.

Tassi’s case leans heavily on circumstantial evidence rather than a direct announcement. He points to Arjona’s close friendship with Gunn, her relationship with fellow DCU star Jason Momoa, who plays Lobo, and her increasingly public workout routine, all of which he argues suggest a role considerably more physically demanding than a supporting villain part would typically require, according to Forbes.

The speculation surrounding Arjona’s DCU role has shifted several times over the past few months. Earlier reporting linked her specifically to Maxima, an alien warrior queen from Superman’s rogues’ gallery who appears in the upcoming ‘Man of Tomorrow,’ with casting lists at various points also including actresses like Eva De Dominici, Sydney Chandler and Grace Van Patten for that same role.

Tassi has argued that hiding a relatively obscure, third-tier Superman villain like Maxima under this much secrecy simply doesn’t make sense compared to how openly other DCU castings have typically been handled. He’s drawn a direct comparison to how Sadie Sink’s secret role in ‘Spider-Man: Brand New Day’ was widely theorized to be X-Men’s Jean Grey well before official confirmation, based on similar visual and circumstantial clues.

Arjona herself hasn’t exactly discouraged the theorizing during her ongoing ‘Onslaught’ promotional tour. She’s shared images and videos across social media discussing her intensive workout regimen, describing her motivation as simply being part of “the DC family” without specifying which character she’s actually training to play.

James Gunn has previously addressed rumors connecting Arjona to Wonder Woman directly, telling Extra in a 2025 interview that she’d make a great Wonder Woman while clarifying that his following her on Instagram stemmed from their friendship dating back to 2016’s ‘The Belko Experiment,’ which he wrote and produced. That comment, while not a confirmation, has continued fueling speculation given how openly complimentary Gunn was about her potential fit for the role.

Given how much circumstantial evidence has piled up around this particular theory, and with Arjona’s press obligations for ‘Onslaught’ wrapping up soon, fans may not have to wait much longer for an official answer one way or another. Until DC Studios makes a formal announcement, though, this remains speculation rather than confirmed casting news.
