Star Wars Fans Think Disney+ Just Teased the Return of Obi-Wan Kenobi

Could Obi-Wan Kenobi be making a return to Disney+? Star Wars fans are once again asking that question after a small change on the streaming service sparked a wave of new speculation. Nothing has been announced by Lucasfilm, but fans believe a refreshed banner for the Obi-Wan Kenobi series could be more than just a simple update.

The discussion started after Star Wars Holocron shared an image of the new Disney+ banner on social media. The account questioned whether the change could be a sign that something is happening behind the scenes. That was enough to get fans talking about a possible second season of the show, which has remained one of the biggest “what if” projects in the Star Wars universe.

For now, there is no official word that Obi-Wan Kenobi Season 2 is in development. The original series was presented as a limited series when it arrived on Disney+ in 2022, and Lucasfilm has not announced a second season. Still, the idea has refused to disappear, mainly because Ewan McGregor has never seemed ready to completely leave the character behind.

McGregor has spoken several times about wanting to play Obi-Wan again. In an earlier interview with Variety, the actor said he would love to return for another season, while also making it clear that there were no current plans for one. His comments have kept hope alive among fans who would happily see him put the Jedi robes back on.

The actor has even talked about ideas for a possible continuation. McGregor has suggested that another story could include Hayden Christensen returning as Anakin Skywalker. He has also mentioned the possibility of bringing Yoda into the story. Those ideas alone have been enough to keep fans imagining what another Obi-Wan series could look like.

The timing is also interesting. Star Wars does not currently have a huge number of live-action Disney+ projects officially lined up. Ahsoka Season 2 is on the way, while Star Wars: Maul – Shadow Lord is another project drawing attention. With fewer major television releases on the calendar, a return to one of the franchise’s most familiar characters would instantly create plenty of excitement.

Obi-Wan Kenobi itself also has an interesting history with fans. When the series first arrived, it received a mixed response. Some viewers wanted the story to focus more closely on Obi-Wan, while others were not happy with the way certain new characters were handled. Reva Sevander, played by Moses Ingram, became one of the main figures in the discussion surrounding the show.

But time has been kinder to the series. Some fans who were disappointed when it first aired have become more positive about it, especially after looking back at the larger Star Wars story. This is not unusual for the franchise. The prequel movies went through a similar change, with many fans becoming much more supportive of them years after their original releases.

A second season would also give Lucasfilm another chance to bring McGregor and Christensen back together. Their return in the Obi-Wan series was already a major event for Star Wars fans, and another project featuring both actors would almost certainly create huge interest.

Fans are now looking toward Star Wars Celebration 2027 in Los Angeles as one possible place for a major announcement. If Lucasfilm really is considering another Obi-Wan project, an event of that size would be a natural place to reveal it. However, that remains speculation at this point.

The new Disney+ banner could simply be a routine change to the show’s artwork. There is nothing from Lucasfilm confirming that it has anything to do with a second season. The excitement is coming from fans connecting the banner change with McGregor’s past comments and the current lack of major Star Wars television projects.

For now, Obi-Wan Kenobi Season 2 remains unconfirmed. But if Lucasfilm is quietly preparing a return, fans clearly would not need much convincing.
