Marvel Drops Another ‘Avengers: Doomsday’ TV Spot, Keeping the Focus Locked on Doctor Doom’s Descent
Marvel’s marketing machine has been running at an almost relentless pace throughout 2026, methodically doling out just enough new footage to keep fans hooked without ever fully revealing its hand. That carefully staggered rollout has become a defining feature of the campaign for the studio’s biggest upcoming crossover, and it shows absolutely no signs of slowing down as the film’s December release inches closer.
Since the first full trailer dropped back in July, generating more than 503 million views within just 24 hours, Marvel has continued layering on additional footage through a mix of exclusive convention exclusives and public TV spots. San Diego Comic-Con and D23 both hosted footage that remained locked to attendees for weeks before eventually making its way into wider promotional material, keeping online speculation running hot in between each reveal.
That pattern continued once again with the latest addition to the campaign. A new TV spot for ‘Avengers: Doomsday‘ has arrived, confirming the film’s December 18 theatrical release date while continuing Marvel’s strategy of letting Robert Downey Jr.’s villain carry much of the marketing weight on his own.
Downey’s pivot from Tony Stark to Victor von Doom has anchored nearly every beat of this promotional rollout so far, with Marvel gradually revealing more of his transformation across a steady drip of character teasers, the full July trailer, and the special D23 look narrated by Vanessa Kirby’s Sue Storm. That D23 footage leaned heavily into the emotional weight of the character’s fall, with Kirby’s narration explaining she knew Doom was lost but hadn’t fully grasped how thoroughly broken he’d become, while Pedro Pascal’s Mister Fantastic confronted him directly and Chris Hemsworth’s Thor promised he’d be “begging for hell” before their eventual confrontation.

This newest spot continues that same tight focus, keeping the emphasis squarely on Doom’s menace rather than spoiling broader plot details about how the film’s massive ensemble ultimately collides. That restraint tracks with Marvel’s broader approach throughout this entire campaign, favoring emotionally charged glimpses over comprehensive plot reveals.
Beyond Downey’s central role, the marketing has also leaned into other emotionally resonant threads, including Chris Evans’s return as Steve Rogers alongside Hayley Atwell’s Peggy Carter, both of whom teased at D23 that their reunion carries genuine weight within the story. Earlier September TV spots have also specifically highlighted the film’s sprawling ensemble, spotlighting the New Avengers, Fantastic Four, and X-Men together in the same promotional beats.

Despite the steady stream of TV spots and exclusive convention footage, fans have continued speculating about when a proper new full trailer might finally arrive, distinct from the character-focused spots that have dominated the campaign’s more recent phase. An earlier TV spot released back in August explicitly confirmed a full trailer was coming soon, suggesting Marvel still has a bigger reveal planned before the film’s release.

Directed by Anthony and Joe Russo, ‘Avengers: Doomsday’ follows heroes from three distinct universes, the Avengers, the Fantastic Four, and the X-Men, as they’re forced onto a collision course against an existential threat unlike anything they’ve previously faced. With the film’s release now just three months away, Marvel’s marketing team shows no indication of easing off the accelerator anytime soon.
What do you think of Marvel keeping Doctor Doom at the center of the Avengers: Doomsday marketing?
