Few actors have had a redemption arc as remarkable as Hayden Christensen’s. Christensen first appeared in the franchise in 2002’s ‘Star Wars: Episode II: Attack of the Clones’ and continued through 2005’s ‘Star Wars: Episode III: Revenge of the Sith’. He returned in the Disney+ series ‘Obi-Wan Kenobi’ in 2022, and later appeared as Anakin Skywalker in ‘Ahsoka’. Each comeback has fed the appetite for a bigger Vader story.

Now the actor has finally spoken about the biggest rumor swirling around him. ComicBook.com shared that Christensen responded to rumors of starring in a solo Darth Vader film, saying “I would be thrilled to get to do that,” but that for now they are just rumors. The post has drawn attention from fans, though the reactions have been divided.

The speculation picked up steam in August when the site Star Wars Gaming claimed that Disney and Lucasfilm were bringing Christensen back. The claim said he was in the final stages of signing a multi-picture deal, and that one of the projects was a Darth Vader standalone movie. Nothing in that report has been confirmed, and Christensen’s own comments keep the situation firmly in rumor territory.

The timing has added fuel to the fire. The rumors arrived after Lucasfilm named new leadership, with Dave Filoni and Lynwen Brennan now running the studio as co-presidents. That change has fans wondering which direction the franchise will take next.

Christensen answered the question during an appearance with his daughter Briar, speaking to E! News in an exclusive interview. E! reported that he said the outing was very special for him. When asked about the rumors, he smiled and kept things light.

He said he would be thrilled to do it, but added that the talk is only rumors for now. Hhe did not confirm or deny anything beyond that. The 45-year-old also said it has been heartwarming to see the resurgence of interest in the original movies.

Reactions on the answer show just how divided the audience is. One reply flatly argued that a solo Darth Vader film is not needed, while another called it something they never knew they needed. That split feels familiar for a franchise that has always had passionate opinions in both directions.

There is high anticipation for a project like this, and fans appear to want a villain in the lead. The last time Christensen suited up on screen in a major way, he played the Sith Lord ten years after the events of ‘Revenge of the Sith’, a period that has plenty of untold history. A standalone film could dig deeper into that stretch and explore what came before the original trilogy.

For now, though, everything hinges on whether Lucasfilm decides to make it official. Christensen’s answer suggests he is open to the idea without having anything to announce. Until Disney says otherwise, the solo Vader movie remains a tantalizing rumor.
