‘Spider Noir’ Star Nicolas Cage’s Dramatic New Look With 31-Year-Old Wife Has Even Longtime Fans Doing a Double Take

Their last big appearance came in May, when Cage walked the New York premiere of ‘Spider Noir’ with Shibata at his side. It was the couple’s first red-carpet event together since the Saturn Awards in February 2025. In the series, Cage plays a 1930s New York private investigator, and the pair matched the show’s black-and-white theme with their outfits. Now the couple is back in the headlines.
The occasion was the opening night celebration for the Lucas Museum of Narrative Art in Los Angeles on Saturday. The 62-year-old actor posed beside Shibata, 31, in front of a leafy backdrop decorated with sweeping silver shapes. They held hands, and in one photograph Shibata threw her head back laughing while Cage smiled broadly next to her.

Both dressed to match the evening. Cage wore a midnight-blue dinner jacket with a subtle circular pattern and shawl lapels, along with an open-necked white shirt and black trousers. Shibata went with an ivory look: a high-necked blouse, wide-legged trousers, and a long coat with sheer sleeves and tied cuffs.
The real talking point, though, was his hair. Cage showed up with tousled silver-grey hair, a full beard, and oversized black sunglasses, which is a dramatic departure from the darker hair fans are used to seeing. Closer Weekly noted that he had swapped his dark brunette mane and freshly shaved face for the new white-and-gray look.

The couple’s story is well documented. They met in Japan in 2019 on the set of ‘Prisoners of the Ghostland’, and Cage proposed over FaceTime in August 2020. They married in February 2021 and welcomed a daughter, August, in 2022. Shibata, who was born in 1995, is his fifth wife.
The evening also drew a starry crowd. The museum was founded by filmmaker George Lucas and his wife, Mellody Hobson, and one report says other guests included Kim Kardashian and Katy Perry. Amid that lineup, the Cage-and-Shibata pairing still managed to become one of the more widely shared moments.
