‘Avengers: Doomsday’ Insider Says the First 10 Minutes Will Be Shocking

Hype for ‘Avengers: Doomsday’ is reaching fever pitch, and every new rumor about Marvel’s next team-up seems to spread faster than the last. The Russo brothers’ film, intended as the sequel to ‘Avengers: Endgame’ and the 39th entry in the MCU, arrives in US theaters on December 18, with Robert Downey Jr. starring as the villainous Victor Von Doom.

Marvel has been feeding that excitement with 4 character teasers, including one showing Chris Evans’ Steve Rogers in the alternate timeline where he settled down with Peggy Carter, and another centered on Chris Hemsworth’s Thor as a surrogate father to Love. Meanwhile, ‘Avengers Endgame: Encore’ is hitting theaters with extra ‘Doomsday’ footage, keeping the movie at the center of conversation.

Now one of the internet’s most prolific Marvel scoopers has added fuel to the fire. On September 24, insider Daniel Richtman claimed on X that the first 10 minutes of ‘Avengers: Doomsday’ will be so intense they could give audiences heart attacks.

The comment spread quickly. Italian outlet ComicsUniverse picked up the claim and described Richtman as one of the most reliable sources in the industry. It’s worth stressing that Richtman didn’t share any details about what actually happens in those opening minutes.

Marvel Studios hasn’t commented, so the remark should be treated as unconfirmed buzz rather than a guaranteed plot tease. This isn’t the first time the insider has weighed in on the film. In January, he suggested on X that ‘Doomsday’ could run 3 hours, putting it on par with ‘Endgame’, which ran 3 hours and 1 minute. Wikipedia currently lists the film’s runtime at 165 minutes.

In February, Richtman admitted he had mixed feelings about the direction of ‘Doomsday’ and ‘Avengers: Secret Wars’, saying some elements sound epic but certain unspoiled decisions could make fans very angry. That warning makes his latest, more enthusiastic tease an interesting shift in tone.

He has also floated a string of smaller rumors, according to a roundup reported by AOL. Those include claims that Doctor Doom’s right-hand man will be a wizard who uses a sling ring, that Loki will have a small role, and that Ms. Marvel, Kate Bishop, and Cassie Lang will share scenes to set up the Young Avengers.

Richtman isn’t the only one making claims. Scooper James Mack said he’d heard that Thanos is no longer part of the film, while broader speculation has swirled about Doom having a wife and child, Steve Rogers potentially causing multiversal incursions, and major character deaths.

None of those details have been verified by Marvel Studios. Still, the sheer volume of chatter shows just how much fans are hungry for any hint about what the Russos have planned.

A shocking opening would certainly fit the scale of the project. The film brings together Avengers and Fantastic Four heroes with characters from Fox’s ‘X-Men’ films, including Pedro Pascal’s Reed Richards, Paul Rudd’s Ant-Man, and a returning mutant lineup.

The Russos had already hinted at a long runtime. While promoting ‘The Electric State’, they told Collider they would bet on ‘Doomsday’ running about 2 and a half hours, with ‘Secret Wars’ running closer to 3.

UK audiences won’t have to wait quite as long, since Disney recently moved the film’s British release up to December 16. Whether the opening minutes live up to Richtman’s dramatic promise, fans will find out in less than 3 months.
