Lopez shares her 18-year-old twins, Max and Oskar Muñiz, with her ex-husband Marc Anthony. The twins graduated from high school earlier this year, with Oskar’s ceremony in May and Max’s in June, and Lopez was photographed wiping away tears as she watched Max graduate. Afterward, she took them on a celebratory road trip to Italy before they headed off to school.

She also reflected on the busy summer that led up to the goodbye. Lopez recalled a great stretch of time with her kids that included plenty of travel but also wreaked havoc on her skin, reminding her to refocus on herself.
Despite the tears, her message wasn’t only about loss. Lopez said she is so excited for the twins to step into a new era of their lives, while reminding fellow parents that it’s a new chapter for them as well. She even suggested it might be the right time to revive some old dreams.

The pair aren’t attending the same school. Lopez revealed during an appearance on ‘Jimmy Kimmel Live’ on May 27 that the twins would be going to different colleges. Oskar is studying theater and studio arts at Sarah Lawrence College in New York, while Max’s school has been kept private.
Lopez’s emotions around this milestone have been building for a while. Last October, she revealed on ‘Live with Kelly and Mark’ that she was squeezing college tours in between press appearances, admitting it felt crazy that the twins were really leaving. She added that she wanted the adventure for them.
At the time, she seemed optimistic about the change. She told Entertainment Tonight she felt really good about becoming an empty nester and described it as the next chapter of an emotional journey. She also stressed that the twins would always have a solid home to return to.
She had also opened up about how her relationship with her kids had grown. Lopez described going through a brutal phase with them a few years earlier, but said the 3 of them have since found a better rhythm.
